Chapter 2

Midnight looked at the front entrance to the Bay City Animal Shelter. She knew she had to escape the men`s grasp, but how?

Once they got inside, the chamber they stepped in had the smell of wet dog and purring cats. Midnight knew these cats loved living in these conditions, but she wondered what was so great about it? The smell of the chamber smelt foul and bitter. The looks of this horrid place gave her nightmares. The food wasn`t any better. It looked like rabbit dung! Not any kind of proper food for this royal queen! She thought trash was so much better!

Once she got a glance of the chamber, the men threw her into a cage that only had a small blanket, a water dish, a bowl filled with the rabbit-dung food, and a small litter box. Her stomach growled with the sound of a lion! She slowly looked at the food again. Well, I guess it is better than nothing. She slowly took a bite. Hey! This is better than I thought! This time, instead of taking a small bite, she gobbled it down! By the end of the night, her dish was clean.

The next day, Midnight was meowing at the top of her lungs. “Don`t think that you can play this mister-nice game with me, you weirdos! I will escape!” Midnight hissed. “I will get out!”

“Relax! These people don`t want to hurt you! They want to help you! Just let them do their job. Not like you liked it on the streets, did you?” A orange tabby mewed to her.

“The streets were far better! No stupid humans telling you what to do. Now that`s what I call a life!” Midnight hiss to the orange tabby.

“Didn`t you ever get lonely living a life like that?”

“Nope! I had my friend, Fern with me!” Midnight mewed.

“Well, by the way, my name is Tiger! Nice to meet you! But, what I mean to say is that I will be your friend!” Tiger meowed happily.
