The Boy Tribute
The lady was prepared to read out the boys name."Storm Blaise!"
I knew Storm. He went to the same career camp that I did. He exceled in axe throwing whereas I did well with spears. He looked at me and we looked straight ahead, not bearing to look at our families. Everyone looked at us as we were shoved into the Justice Building, not looking at our families.
My family was there straight away. I hugged Danielle and spoke to her.
"Look, you can't braid my hair any more. Braid Mom's hair. Oh, remember to gather as well. It's blackberry season, pick the biggest ones." She giggled and cuddled me for all she was worth.
"You're so fast and brave. Maybe you can win!" Danielle said, perhaps a little to excited in her emotions. I smiled "Maybe" Then, I turned to my mother.
"You need to hunt. Even if I die you can't chicken out and leave poor Danielle alone. She can hunt. Maybe get a rabbit every week. Make sure you earn money. Please" I said pleadingly.
"Ok" She said. The Peacekeepers were dragging my mother and sister out and I screamed "I love you! I really do!" Then my allotted time was over and I went to the train.
