I don't think that swear words are necessary, but i think we should have words that aren't offensive, but we can say when we're mad.

My mom always says that people only swear because they're not clever enough to think of a better word. All the kids I know my age think swearing is 'cool' if they're cool then I don't wanna be it

Not really. If you drop something on the floor, you can just say shoot instead of s***. Kids at my school swear every-other word and not only is it stupid but it's also annoying. Honestly swearing makes you seem as though you're trying too hard. Also swearing can hurt others or make them uncomfortable.
Straightajonah
ikr shoot definitely works in any scenario were you can say the other word!
reply

While not technically 'necessary', there will always be words that will be labelled as ruder than others and that some people will take strong offence to. Personally I think that overusing them takes the intensity out of them so while I will swear, I will only do it when my emotion is strong and passionate to match up to the words that I use.
Swearing in every second sentence though is not necassary and in my opinion stupid. Find better words.

No way. I really hate swear words. I've never said one and hope I won't. In fact I'm so anti-swear words that my fingers twitch subcontiously when ever someone swears. Al though, I think that if swear words weren't here they'd invent some other crude, offensive, racist, sexist words.

To be honest I think it's kind of weird that there are words that we're not supposed to say. If they're so bad why would you create them? I'm not lying, I swear a fair amount (especially online •__• ) but that's not to be offensive or anything
Lucky_Queen
I agree, it makes no sense why people came up with bad words. But they did come up with them, and they do have really bad meanings.

I think that smaller cuss words (such as damn) are necessary because people need some sort of verbal way to convey emotion. However, major cuss words are not necessary.

No, they are not. People use them randomly and to offend others and that's just rude! People say it a to 'express themselves', but there are hundreds of other words you can say! They not necessary at all!

Better than physical abuse, but it's not necessary most of the time.
hotanimallover101
then when do you think it is appropriate because if you shouldn't use it all the time then why should you use it once? If it's to get the point across don't you think their is a more productive more mature way to handle things? rather than cursing to make people or animals scared, and not do something. If so then maybe you should take a parenting class and learn See More▼

No. Swear words are probably just used for people to amplify an emotion or feeling using a word that is usually not used to describe that.

Not at all! Using cuss words shows how small you're vocabulary can be, you can use tons of better words. The only exception I have to this is, if it slips out on accident.

I don't want to be mean but think about it. The only reason people use those words is because they are angry. What purpose do they have? They don't make you feel good and they don't solve problems. All they do is make your language dirty and sometimes hurt others. they really aren't necessary even in bad situations.

No, there not necessarily. Using them, just makes things worse and make you into a person you are not. People just use them to either make a point/fight, also they say them to make it sound like their "cool". And also, they may use them in terms to get their anger out, but NO their not necessarily.

I personally don't think swear words are nessasary because, if you don't know what they mean like lunapie321 said, you could get into real trouble. Plus, swear words hurt people and no body wants to be sad, or bullied by anyone.

sometimes I wonder why there even is bad words. I mean they are just words that have a bad meaning. The real question is why do people come up with them and/or say them. Alot of people should be careful with the things they say around little kids. Heres an example: a friend of mine was out on a walk with her little sister and they walked past a few guys that were swaring, my friends sister started repeating the bad words because she didnt know what they meant.

Personally I think their necessary if you want to emphasize a point such as:
This guy was a real a**hole to me earlier.
But I don't think it's necessary to throw swears out in every single sentence. Kinda a neutral thing.

F*ck yea. Ok, ok I'm kidding. I have no problem with swear words. I just consider them REALLY powerful words with a lot of meaning behind them. I don't think it's about being clever or smart or classy, I think it's about showing extreme emotion and just those emotions scare people and that's why they're "bad."
