Chapter 1: Secrets and Running Away

(A/N: The above is what I imagine Alucard's, Arianna's father to look like ~Crimson)

Chapter 1:

When I regained consciousness I quickly opened my eyes and was almost blinded by how bright everything was. I groaned and sat up looking around. I was in my bedroom. I rubbed my neck as it was stinging and felt two puncture wounds. Everything that happened flooded back to me and I began hyperventilating. Vampires were real! My nerves were going haywire so I tried to calm myself.

I slowly pushed myself off of my bed as I stood up shakily. I headed downstairs leaning on the wall as support but suddenly froze in my step when I heard voices. I was about to continue walking (well more like limping) down the stairs when what happened next shocked me to the very core.

“Jaden had to reveal it, didn’t he?!” I heard my father shout in anger. “You know it wasn’t his fault Alucard” My mother said in a soothing tone as she tried to calm him down. My father sighed. “I suppose your right, should we tell Arianna?” He asked. There was another emotion that seemed like fear but that could have just been me. At that moment I just had to confront them about what they were talking about. “Tell me what?” I asked as I stood at the base of the stairs with my hands on my hips.

Both quickly turned and looked at me. Father sighed.” Well, the truth would have come out eventually so to put it simply Arianna, you’re a vampire and werewolf hybrid commonly referred as a werepire although that is not the correct name.” he said. “B-but how?” I asked. I could feel my eyes watering. Huh, crying, I haven’t cried for years...It just didn’t make sense, I mean I knew vampires and the supernatural existed thanks to Jaden but I never imagined that I myself would be one. “It’s because your father and I are not human. I am a werewolf whilst your father is a vampire” Anastasia said.  “I see….” I murmured whilst turning and looking down at the ground.

“Sweetie, look we did it to protect you.” I heard my mother say gently. I whipped around angrily. “And how is keeping a life changing secret like this protecting me?! I thought we didn’t keep secrets from each other in this family?!” I yelled at them frustrated.” Don’t yell at us like that young lady! We did it so you could live a normal life! You should be grateful!” My father’s voice boomed in a condescending tone. “Well why keep it from me for so long?! I trusted you!” I yelled back. “We were planning to tell you on your 18th birthday but that idiotic boy just had to let his bloodlust get the best of him and bite you! It awakened your hybrid side!” He shouted once more. That only fuelled the fire. “DON’T SPEAK OF JADEN LIKE THAT!” I screamed. “Why? Do you have a crush on the stupid fool? He’s pathetic and arrogant. I forbid you from seeing him and getting involved with that…scum” My father said with distaste evident in his eyes.

“Jaden’s not scum! If anything you’re the scum around here!” I said beyond angered. My father glared as his voice lowered dangerously low. “Go to your room. NOW”. I refused to move, challenging him with narrowed eyes. Suddenly I felt a stinging sensation on my cheek. He slapped me. My eyes watered. I was speechless for a split second before fury overtook me as I quickly wiped away my tears with my sleeve. “You’re a pathetic excuse for a father! Who hits their own daughter?!” I shouted at him. He let out a growl. “ENOUGH!” My mother yelled. “Arianna, room, NOW” She said turning to me with a disappointed look as I turned and stalked up the stairs to my room. As I opened the door I faintly heard my mother start yelling at my father.  “Alucard Vladimir Evergreen, she’s right. You shouldn’t have hit her however that doesn’t mean you should start screaming your heads off at each other. You’re supposed to be a responsible adult. Don’t encourage her” She said in what sounded like an exasperated tone of voice.

I opened the door and walked into the room, slamming the door behind me as I ran over and jumped on my bed. I laid my head on my folded arms as I felt something wet slide down my cheek and hit the pillow. Tears, I was crying. That’s twice today. I turned around and locked my hands together putting them behind my head as I stared at the roof. I can’t believe they kept such a big secret from me. My whole life had been a whole lie. Shattered just like a broken mirror. My eyes narrowed in determination as a plan formed. I sat up and grabbed a pen and a notepad from the nightstand as I quickly uncapped the pen and began writing. I finished the note and tore it from the rest of the notepad placing it on my bed. I stood up from the bed and grabbed a backpack as I began to pack everything I believed I would need.

Once I finished I grabbed a hoodie and slipped it on as I walked over to the window and opened it. I looked down. It was pretty high up and I soon felt nervous. This decision will change everything. No, I will not hesitate. With a newfound determination I nodded to myself and climbed outside and on the window sill. I backed up as far as I could on the brick wall for support as I stared at the vast green forest behind the house. I looked down and swayed slightly from the height. I steadied myself as I stared at my target. A lake deep enough for what I was about to do. I closed my eyes and breathed in and out. I snapped open my eyes and jumped closing my eyes as I felt a stinging pain when I hit the water’s surface. I soon felt the frigid waters surround me as I slowly sank. I opened my eyes and ignored the water as I swam up for air. When I broke through I took a huge intake of air as I swam towards the shore. When I reached the shore I climbed out and rubbed my irritated eyes. I looked at the looming forest before nodding and running into its depths without looking back at the house.
