Chapter 31- Girls or boys

I turned, feeling lightheaded. Knowing I couldn't reach Nico in time, I swung my scythe...
And severed the ropes in the net.
I fell flat on my face, coughing and choking, as the net tumbled down. It was opened, and Nico jumped out. He rolled, grabbed a sword, and in one movement went in front of her with his sword upward, deflecting her own blade. She pushed against him, then hopped back to get more ground.
"N-nico-" I choked.
He glanced at me then spread his beautiful white wings. He ran, scooped me up, and flew off. As he took off the demon girl, who I now considered a physco, jumped up and slashed at Nicos leg.
With a yelp he turned, deflecting the worse of the cut, then kept flying off. She growled as we flew away, out of sight. My vision darkened. And the next thing I knew I was out cold, hanging limply in his grasp.
"Hold on." Nico whispered, as we flew into the heavens and beyond.
I gasped, my eyes widening, as Nico placed a cold hand on my bare chest.
"I'm sorry. It'll be over soon."
I gave a terse nod, then clutched at the grass underneath me. His hands glowed as he mended my wounds. It felt unbearably itchy, and warm. Oh so warm. As he repaired my nerves, I got a bolt of pins and needles, and I flinched, biting my lip in discomfort. He smiled a little, apologetic.
Finally when he was done healing me he wiped some sweat from his brow and smiled.
"All better. You can move around. But um... I may have some bad news."
"What?" I said as I retrieved my shirt.
"The cut on your eye, and the one on your chest... The blade was enchanted. I could only do so much."
I froze, my shirt half on, then peeked at my chest.
A long, deep, although thin cut traced its way up my chest and ended at my breast bone. I followed it to my face, my hand gently over the cut that now covered my eye.
"I can still see out of it. That's all I need."
"Are you sure?"
"Positive. You did all you could Nico. Thank you."
He smiled and rested his head on my shoulder.
"Its the least I could do. Besides, it seems like everytime we get in a fight you get seriously hurt one way or another. Its second nature to you."
"And its second nature to always be there when I need your help."
We looked each other in the eyes. Then he looked away embarrassed.
"What's wrong?"
"Its just..."
I raised an eyebrow.
"Don't tell me you like girls."
"What?"
"Cause if you liked girls, it would be hard for anybody like me to convince you otherwise." I looked ahead, into the distance. Nico stared at me.
"Are you saying you...?"
"I didn't say anything."
"Yeah but-"
I turned to face him, then quickly took his chin in my hand and kissed him. His eyes widened. Just as quickly I pulled away, suddenly feeling embarrassed, and looked away.
"Let's just set up camp. The suns setting and I'm tired."
"You- Did you just-"
"Did I?"
I stood up and looked at him. His face was red. I smiled and ruffled his hair.
"Come on kid. Let's get ready."
"I-I'm the same age as you!"
I chuckled and shook my head, walking away as I prepared for the night.
The whole time he stared at me, a look of wonder on his face and blush around his cheeks.
