Chapter 30- Dove in a Net

A few years later, we were still by each other's side. We travelled around, getting closer and closer by the day. He wore a dark green cape, and would go ahead and scout out the area. If trouble arose, I would rush in and deal with anyone there.
I crouched, sitting on a rocky ledge while I waited for the signal. Nicos power was heal. It was weak compared to some others, but it was very very useful. He could heal nay wound and sickness, even fix broken hearts. And that was a gift that was invaluable to me. Mainly because I had a tendency to get hurt.
But it was more then just his power. It was HIM.
He was always by my side, shy at times but always supportive. He was smart, and controlled in his emotions most of the time. And he looked adorable.
Although I would never say it to his face. I am not that bold.
I shifted in place, getting impatient. He should be done by now. It always made me uneasy whenever he went off alone, but I knew it was necessary. The nature of his magic was similar to those this land carried. So, in a way, it made him invisible. Mine, however, carried great amounts of shadow and light magic. Mine was unique, and anyone with their right mind can tell you that.
I kept waiting, growing more and more uneasy. It was almost a hour since he left. And he wasn't back yet.
Then, when I was about to charge after him, a small red flare popped up over the trees.
He was in trouble.
Without any hesitation I jumped, raised my wings, and flew to him as fast as I could. My gray wings pumping furiously against the air.
In a minute I had landed on the edge of trees. I saw him, caught in a trap. I cursed. It was some stray demons...
Nico struggled in the net, trying desperately to cut his way through, but his wings got caught. He thrashed helplessly, like a dove caught in, well, a net.
I was filled with rage.
The demons had stripped him of his weapons, which were laying on the ground. There were two of them, both male. They smiled proud of themselves.
"Finally! I'm surprised we managed to catch one."
"Well, most of them are in their little city. This is on the edge of their borders."
"But still. For the strongest race they seem pretty pathetic to me."
One of them kicked at Nico, who cried out. I growled silently to myself, then started moving carefully, going behind the demons.
"I wonder why this one is here. Normally they don't travel alone, especially at this age."
"I'm not alone!"
They turned to him, putting their backs towards me.
"Excuse me you little wimp, what did you say?"
"I said I'm not alone. I have a friend."
"And who is this 'friend'? You don't expect us to believe they can defeat two armed demons in a hand to hand-"
I grabbed the head of one of them, and twisted it until their neck snapped.
The other one reacted, surprised, and jumped backwards. They grabbed for their weapons, but before they could draw them I brought out my scythe and sliced them in half with a single swing.
Their body toppled downward, and I panted from the excursion. Fighting always gave me a big boost of adrenaline.
"Abaddon, Look ou-"
I turned, too late, and got a bright light flashed in my face. My ears rang.
Blind and deaf, I stumbled backwards. Then I felt something tug on my chest, and in a flash moved upward and into my face. I screamed as pain erupted in my body, and fell.
"NO!" Nico thrashed more in his net, struggling desperately to break free. I blinked, my vision coming back somewhat. Above me stood a figure whos face was out of focus. But I knew instantly it was a demon of some sorts. A POWERFUL one. They held a scimitar in one hand, its jagged edges glowing blue with power. My eyes widened as I realised whatever weapon it was, it carried enchantments. No doubt equal to my own.
"So YOUR the halfbreed everyone was talking about."
The voice took me by surprise. It was unmistakably female.
They lowered their blade so it was just under my chin.
"Tsk tsk tsk. Your more predictable then I thought. And to think I actually admired you."
"Get your dirty hands off of him before I get out of this net and kill you!" Nico shouted.
She looked at him, and as my vision cleared I saw long, straight, midnight hair. Her ears were slightly pointed, and two large twisting horns sprouted from her forehead. Her eyes were pitch black, like tar. She wore what I realised was expensive fighting clothing.
Suddenly some blood got in my eye, and I winced. That's when I realised she had left a cut right over my right eye. The blue one.
"Listen... I don't know who you are or why you decided to attack us, but we don't want to-" She put her foot on my chest and stepped down, snapping my ribs. I tilted my head up to the sky and gasped as the razor sharp points of my own bones stabbed into me. She smirked a bit with satisfaction.
"Lies. All lies. If you saw me before you went sneaking in you would have attacked me."
Nico kept desperately trying to escape. He reached his hand out towards me, through the netting, and I saw it glow. He was trying to heal me, but he can't without touching my wounds.
I needed to get to him.
