Darkest Evil: A Halo Story (PART 1)
Chapter 2.

Hideout in the Jungle

The light faded into the darkness. As we treked through the landscape, I noticed 679 was taking me to a jungle-like biome. This is where 679 lives? I don't think I could last a week here. I hope I'm only staying for the night.
"Welcome to my home," said 679. "It seems uninhabitable, but I get through it."
"It looks abandoned. Why do you keep it unkept?" I asked.
"I have no arms. I can only move things, not keep in in tact," retaliated 679.

The home of 679 was an abandoned UNSC spot. It had vines everywhere and infestation problems. If I'm staying here, I'm cleaning up this place. I noticed a flat spot that had no vegetation.
"If the UNSC doesn't come by the next day, I'll build a ship," I told 679.
"I might as well agree with you, sir," said 679. "But let's get your bed ready."
"Yes, good idea," I said. "Better start now rather than wait until it's dark."

I prepared a makeshift cot. 679 knew a lot about human survival. That was good because I didn't pay attention in survival class much. I still ponder about 679. How did he become sentient? If someone makes a bot that's sentient they're kicked out. Why didn't the UNSC just destroy him? There's definitely something fishy about this.
