Chapter Four

“What’s wrong? Do you want me to come to yours?” Surge’s soft voice rang through my ears, awakening me from my daydream. I had rung him because I need to talk to him. I had just been fired form work because I had been daydreaming.

“Could you meet me in the park? I’m closer to the park than I am to home.”

“Of course. I’ll get there as soon as I can. Stay safe” And then he hung up. I couldn’t believe it, the guy that I had a major crush on was more than willing to talk to me. I quickly walked to the park and sat down on a bench in clear view of all entrances.

I waited there for about half an hour before he turned up and when he did, he was wearing a hoodie, with his hood down, and tracksuit bottoms. It was obvious that he had just come from the gym. I was trying not to break down into tears again. I didn’t want him to see me in that state.

“Hey, nice to see you Maria. What’s wrong? Something happen?” I couldn’t tell him that I was daydreaming about him and got fired from work. What do I tell him?

“Yeah, I got fired from work…”

“Why? You’re a really nice person and you were great at your job.” I blushed a little at him saying that I’m a really nice person. It wasn’t often that I was given compliments.

“I was daydreaming instead of doing work and customers were complaining that they weren’t getting their orders.” Okay, this was partially the truth. Customers weren’t getting their orders because of me and I was daydreaming but I wasn’t prepared to tell him that I was daydreaming about him, I wasn’t quite ready for him to know that I have a crush on him.

“Daydreaming about the stars huh?”

“Huh? What? Oh right, yeah I was” it was already starting to get dark, and the stars were already coming out, a small smile slipped onto my features.

“Well, you may have been fired, but don’t let it get you down, I’m sure you’ll find another job”

“well, I need to find another job quickly because otherwise I won’t be able to pay the rent on the flat…” This was what I was most panicking about, I don’t want Sapphire and I to get kicked out because I haven’t been paying the rent.

“I’ll pay it whilst you look for a job. I don’t want a pretty girl like you living on the streets” He… called me pretty? By now, I must have been blushing like mad. He’s going to find out that I like him if he continues.

“Oh, and don’t worry about paying it back. It’s fine. You’re a nice girl and I can’t just sit by whilst you suffer” And with this, he lent in and kissed my cheek. I couldn’t believe it! My crush just kissed my cheek! I didn’t know what to do, what could I do in that situation?!

I mumbled out a “Yeah, thanks…” And then looked towards the stars, I could read a little of what was written amongst them. it seemed like it was in a different language, definitely not English. Where the stars revealing themselves to me because I was with Surge? Only time would tell.
