I have depression. I've had it for years, and its gotten worse over time. I've been through shit and back, and every once in awhile my past comes up to haunt me. Like today. Before covid hit I was so numb I couldn't understand noise or color. I was suicidal, but I'm mostly better. I had to piece myself together, but I'm not fixed yet. I always smiled and faked being happy because... well... I was scared.
I was scared of what you all would think of me.
I was scared I would make everyone upset because I was upset.
And I was scared People would hate me.
Even now I'm scared to tell you.. But wearing a mask isn't working anymore. Its hard to describe it. hmm..
Imagine wearing a shirt. It fits fine for years, but as you grow it gets smaller and harder to move in. Eventually you have to take it off and discard it because its way too small to wear. That's what my smile is like.
I hid my negative emotions, and only told my positive ones. Being optimistic worked well, cause it made me believe I was ok. I literally fooled myself.
But because I hid them, they built up over time until my depression comes out in bursts. I can't control them, and my mask gets harder to wear everytime. Now the effort to keep it on is too much. I have to take it off.
Other then my depression I have not hid anything else important. Please don't think I am fake, because almost everything on here is true to me.
I hope you all understand...
