Chapter 2.

1- An Unfortunate night

Tonight, the night of a far future, close enough to the current days, something seemed off. Clouds that are dark red, and rain pouring greatly during this storm. Women and men and children everywhere in [location] rushing inside anywhere they can get protection from this storm.
Cars sped through the wet streets, rushing of black, white, blue, red, gray, and a few purple cars passing by Retco's; a corner shop mostly made of glass. A few cars scraped the curb of the sidewalk, some others spinning on the road, and a few minor crashes in the hour. One car, however, was notable.

A black van grazed the Riely Street with speed, far past the speed limit. It seemed like a blur, almost unnoticeable. It was only a second, what felt like minutes, as everybody was now frozen in fear. The van that had swerved now parked in the middle of the street sideways, the driver rushing out of the car.

qHe rushed over to the middle of the street, where a child lay motionless. He gently picked the child up in his arms. The poor, poor child who lay unconscious. The crowd chattered, filling the shop with rumors and news and shock with what had happened in that second. The man raised his hand, in an impressive success to silence the group of chatterers. Perhaps they were simply just curious on what he would say. Perhaps intrigued on the next move.

The man was paler than usual, his brown hair in a wavy ponytail down to his back. He was dressed very formally, suit, tie, pants, top hat, dress shoes, and so on. His eyes were a dark, dark green, his lips a pale pink, and a stubble along his chin. The man appeared very professional.

The man’s voice was not necessarily quiet, but was certainly not loud. His voice had a sense of authority and power to it, commanding attention to the listeners. He spoke carefully and deliberately, making sure that each word was pronounced correctly and with the proper emphasis. The words he spoke were simple, but the way he spoke them made them feel much more important.

“Citizens, I am nobody to be scared of. I am nothing to be scared of. If anything, I shall be your savior. Your savior from your darkest times, I shall be there as your light and guide. I shall be there for each of you, whether in a minute or few to years and beyond.” The man spoke. His god complex seemed to be showing, as he’d shove the child into his van. He then turned back towards his audience.

“But I must now go, take care of who I came for. Apologies, for this inconvenience.” He bowed at the listeners, some gaping in awe, some stuck frozen, and few citizens that have  now been chatting. There was a sense of confusion and disbelief among the crowd, as they tried to make sense of what the man had just said and how he intended to go about fulfilling his mission.

The sir got into his van, the unconscious child in the back seat, him in the driver's seat. He gave a second wave, closing the door of his van. The man then drove off, a more steady speed this time, until out of sight.

The man was gone, and the crowd was left to ponder his words. Some were left hopeful and filled with determination, while others were skeptical and cautious. It seemed that the man had accomplished what he set out to do, and the crowd was now left to decide whether or not they believed in him as a savior or something else. It was a very interesting turn of events, and the group's decision would have major ramifications for the future of this community. They would need to choose carefully and wisely, otherwise they risk the consequences of being wrong either way.

It was strange that night, an unfortunate night for sure. A death, or perhaps a few even, and a questionable man. Of course, at least one person would question what happened. Supposedly more, but Eli knew for sure, at least one person questioned.

That person, being Eli. Eli wasn't sure what to think about what had happened. The strange man who had appeared and said those mysterious things left him feeling uneasy, and he wondered what his intentions were. Could he really be a savior like he claimed, or was there someone more sinister at work here? Eli couldn't help but worry about the consequences that might arise from believing in this man's words, and it made him question what to do. He needed more information, and he was willing to do whatever it took to get it. Eli would find the truth behind this mystery, one way or another.
