Chapter 3.

Coffee Break

You gaze at your cereal as you scoop another spoonful of surgery flakes into your mouth.
"Lucky! Bad dog! Come back here!" Your mum yells as Lucky runs into the kitchen where you are. He looks up at you blinking innocently before he continues running into the next room. Your mum comes in after wobbling as she runs in her heels.
"Where did Lucky go?" She asks annoyed. You motion to the next room.
"He doesn't want to go to the groomers?" You ask stuffing another spoonful into your mouth. She shakes her head pinching the end of her nose.
"No, he doesn't, it's almost as if he knows" She mutters walking into the next room grabbing the leash as she goes so. You hear her cheer in triumph and Lucky bark. "Alright love, we'll be back in a few, feel free to head out if you want to!" Lucky whines. "Oh hush pup!" She mutters as you hear the door close and lock. You smile as your stare at the last few cornflakes bobbing along the milk in your bowl. Seeing as your mum and even Lucky has plans for the day, what shall you do? After all, this was the last day you had off before you join your new school. Maybe walking around the town again could be fun, maybe not falling into someone this time too. You grab a hoodie and head out after leaving a quick note for your mum or when she comes back.

Snowfall was a small village but in a way it was oddly charming. As you walk further into the town you come across a pale yellow coffee shop. "Cafe Coffee, the only coffee shop to warm your heart and taste buds" You read allowed. Coffee sounded good to you right about now. You open the shop door and walk in welcoming the warm air. Ting! A golden bell rang above you as you walk in. The place was relatively empty except a booth or two taken by a family and a cute old couple.
"Welcome to Cafe Coffee, the only coffee shop to warm your heart and taste buds! How can we help?" You turn towards the nice man behind the counter.
"Just a regular coffee will be fine" You say putting note on the counter. He swiftly takes the note, gives you the change and in no time hands you a steaming cup of coffee.
"Enjoy!" He says. Ting!
"__?" A familler voice asks. You turn to see Peter his hands in his jeans pockets. You remember him from when you first went to Jack's house and smile.
"Hey Peter! Come sit with me!" He nods and orders a coffee for himself as you two sit opposite in a window booth.

You sit in comfortable silence with the boy as you both sip your coffee enjoying the taste.
"What do you think of Snowfall so far?" He asks running a hand through his strawberry blonde hair. You shrug and turn so you can see out the window.
"The people here are polite strange, but then again, I kind of like that, it's really cold here too" You mutter, "and icy which isn't fun for me, but I do like it here. It seems like a really quite yet fun town. Cosy" You turn back to Peter to see his staring at you a small smirk on his face as he rests his chin on his hand. "What?" You ask sipping your coffee. He shrugs his gaze never leaving you as he took takes a gulp. "Stop that!" You laugh. "It's creeping me out" He laughs into his mug as he finishes his coffee.
"Alright, jeez" He puts his cup on the table as you take a final sip finishing yours too. He jumps off his seat.
"Want me to show you around town? I doubt you've seen everything yet" Nodding you smile and jump out of your seat too.
"Sounds great! Thank you!" You say. You head towards the shop exit, until you sip on some coffee on the floor and fall onto your face. You grown into the tiled floor and sit up groggily.

Peter laughs hysterically as he kneels next to you.
"O-oh man! That's was great!" He chuckles. You glare at him.
"It's not funny! It kinda hurt.." Your eyes trail to your knees which you scared when you hit the floor. You hard a large cut on your right knee. Peter notices it too and stops laughing.
"That looks like it stings, you okay?" You nod.
"It's not that bad" You state picking yourself up. He also gets up and takes her hand dragging you out of the shop.
"First things first on the tour, the store, we need to get you a plaster" You groan in displeasure your knee stinging with every step. He places you on the curb outside of a local shop. "Wait here" he says and walks in the shop. You sit on the curb covering your knee so no bystanders would come over worried. You draw little hearts and flowers in the snow while you wait for Peter to come out of the shop again. Minutes later Peter walks out with a carrier bag. He reaches in and grabs a box taking a plaster out. You reach into your pocket for the change the coffee man gave you.
"Here, is this enough for them?" He gently pushes you hand away and shakes his head before carefully placing the plaster on your knee. When you had first seen Peter, you never thought he would be so gentle. It was adorable.
"Thank you" You say smiling up at him. He smiles back.
"No problem" he says before once again grabbing your hand and pulling you up. You sigh as he pulls you along.
"I'm starting to think you like to see me annoyed" You grumble and Peter just laughs thinking a moment before nodding.
"Yep"
