Chapter Two
I walk to a big brick building with a sign that reads "black scull INN". I open the door to see a empty room with tables and a bar station. A man with black hair and a long grey beard walks in holding a girl around 14 with stormy grey-blue eyes,and short blonde hair. The man drags her outside"That is the last time you steal from me"! he says throwing her out the door. She crashes into a near by puddle. She slowly stands up.
"I didn't steal fr-" She starts but the man slams the door in her face.
"OK what can i get you" He says to me"
"Do you have a place to sleep"? I say hopefully rocking myself on my heels.
"Sorry but no" he says picking up a beer jar and submerging it in water.
"But it says on your sign it's an INN"! I say walking over.
"I know but we are full there is nothing i can do" he says grabbing another beer cup and sinking it into water.
"OK whatever" i say walking out. I see the girl trying to get the mud out of her hair. I look at her and she looks back.
"WHAT"? She says sternly.
"I was just wondering if you know a place i can stay" i say pulling out a hanker chef from my back pocket from my black leather dress my mother made a year ago. "Here" i say handing it to her. She looks at it for a seconds then takes it. Her glare softens and she sticks out her hand
"I'm Kada, Kada Storm" She says. I shake her hand.
"I'm Adeline" I say.
"And yes"
"What"? i say looking up confused.
"I said yes, yes i know where you can stay" she says wiping the mud off her leather boots.
"Can you show me where"?
"Do you have money" She looks at me and i sigh. I reach pull a coin out of my pouch that is around my waist and hand it to her.
"Here"
"Good enough for me, lets go" She says going up to a black horse that i am pretty sure Isn't hers. I jump onto Sugar and she leads me past the village to the woods. We make our way to a hidden path. We ride for about an hour before we get to a small cottage with a sound of kids laughter and a frustrated woman's voice. Kada gets off her horse and i do the same. I tie Sugar to the near by well. I walk into the cottage where three kids are running a round. I old woman in a light blue dress and a pink apron with batter on it walks in.
"Hay that's not fair" whines a little girl who is in Kada's left arm.
"Life's not fair" Kada says putting the two children down on the wooden floor.
"Woo dat"? Asks a little boy around three. He points at me.
"I'm Adeline" I say.
"I found her in the village" Kada says, as she picks up a wooden toy the three year old boy had dropped.
"Well more like i found you"
"What ever"
"You girls wouldn't mind helping me cook dinner would you"? The old woman says. She walks into the kitchen and starts the fire.
"What is this place"? I ask
"It's an orphanage" Kada says
"Really"? I ask
"Yup"
"What are your guy's names"?
"The oldest is me, Then there's Ariana" Kada says pointing to a girl with long brown hair and brown eyes. "Then there's Penny, and Hawk" Kada says pointing to a little girl around five. She has brown long hair and blue eyes. Kada then points to the little boy. He has blonde hair and blue eyes.
"Hawk"? I ask "That's a cool name" I say.
"I thought of it" Say the old woman.
"Whats your name"? I ask handing her pile of twigs and a log.
"I'm Ada" She says. We start cooking by gathering carrots, water, and other vegetables.
Dinner is served after an hour of mixing a cooking. Soup is poured into six bowls. We eat in silence as we in joy the yummy soup. Hawk spills his soup probably once every ten minutes and Ada is consistently getting up to clean it. My mind turns as i wonder what my parents were doing. I suddenly feel butterfly's in my stomic and i become home sick. A small longing to go home takes it's place in my heart, but how would i tell my father that he would not get his kingdom back. Would my family live our lives in the land of Ardinal? I try not to think about it but i can't stop.
"You OK"? Asks Penny
"Um" I say snapping back to reality "Yeah" i say.
"No your not" She says with a worried look on her face. She is right, I'm not.
