Running
We had been running for a while. I had noticed an evil presence behind us, heard whatever it was chasing us. It was large and heavy, and it ran on two legs. I heard a cape - or wings - whistling behind it, and it smelled of burning flesh and... honey? No. Not honey. It was the sweet scent of milk, like a newborn child sucking its mother. This thing behind us must've preyed upon unprotected mothers and their young, no matter what species. And from time to time, it let out terrible screeches of rage, and at the time I could only say they sounded like an enraged vulture. I now know the thing in question is called a Nomed.Hi and I had been running for a while. I stopped, realizing I could not hear the beast anymore. Hi saw me, and after swiveling her ears and sniffing the air, relaxed. She still had a terrified look in her eyes, and her breath came in short gasps, like mine. She darted into the bushes and beckoned to me with her tail, then opened her mouth to speak. "What was >gasp< that thing? >gasp< It almost killed us!" " I don't know, but I know we have to be careful," was all I had in me to say. I looked at Hi, then collapsed on the ground. I had whited out.
