I had this one dream where a bunch of friends came over to my house to smoke weed in my garage and I didn't want to smoke it so I just said "I have to pee" and went outside and my history teacher was in my yard for some reason and looked really suspicious of me so I poked my head into the garage and whisper shouted for them to hide the weed and then I went outside and said really loudly "MR FINCHLEY" to get his attention and warn my friends of the threat and then he reprimanded See More▼ me about a late assignment until I cried and then I woke up

Bc like... Yes??? I do want more diverse casts?? And this should be obvious to anyone who knows shit about writing/art/etc?
The more diverse your cast is, the better. Regardless of whether this diversity comes from their experience as determined by skin color, sex, childhood, religion, ideology, interests, etc. No one ever gets See More▼ mad at a story for having "too many different things for people on the team to do - everyone should be the brainy character, adding a leader or a heart is unnecessary and too politically correct." So why does this change when it comes to diversity in race, ethnicity, sex, gender, orientation, etc?

Anime is cool. And Brandon Woelfel is f*CKING awesome. But there's a major problem that I have with both of them that bothers me immensely.
All characters/models are white, pretty much. And when you're talking specifically about females, then... All skinny. They all look practically the same, aside from hair color/eye color. And I just cannot f*cking stand this kind of monochrome character group. Especially in anime, where basically all females also wear ridiculously revealing See More▼ clothing and all look like sexy carbon copies of each other. Like, seriously.

Tl;dr: Juana Inés was a feminist badass who changed the world, beat a bunch of pretentious science dudes at science, and fell in love with a girl.

And then she decided to write this one letter to some important religious dude about why she believed predestination (or original sin? Or some other religious thing popular at the time) was horseshit. And then that dude published the letter along with an anonymous response criticizing her for being a dumb woman and daring to question the theocratic authority of these religious people. And people thought she was ruined because of this, but she published a response - which is super See More▼ famous to this day and was monumental in promoting the education of women - saying "you're a dumb asshole. Disagree with me all you want, but at least have the brains to disagree with me because you think my ideas are wrong, not because I have a vagina." (4/4)

Then she joined a convent so that she could have a bunch of time to study and write (btw she's one of the most epic philosophers/writers to ever walk the face of the Earth) and not have to deal with dudes. Then another Vicereine came. And the Vicereine and Juana we're super gay for each other. Juana wrote a bunch of romantic (possibly erotic) poetry about the Vicereine until the people reading her writings (bc she was a nun and had like no privacy) were like "okay, so what the See More▼ hell is this, this is no longer cute friendship this is devil shit who are you writing these about??". It wasn't public bc nobody wanted a scandal, but yep. The Vicereine and Juana were sort of banned from each other's presence and stuff like that, but Juana was a rebel in love. Their relationship never really ended until the Vicereine was forced to return to Spain. Juana was devastated. A bunch of other stuff happened. (3/4)

The Vicereine wanted her to tutor her daughter, and Juana was like "hell yeah," but everyone else was like "hell no. It's bad enough that the daughter is getting an EDUCATION, she sure ain't getting it from a repulsive stupid WOMAN" and Juana was like "the f*ck you say to me" and so there was this thing. The Viceroy gathered dozens of the most intelligent men in new Spain to challenge her - if she won/passed, she could tutor his daughter; otherwise, she was out of the court. Obviously, See More▼ this was set up intentionally to make an example of her. They tested her and debated with her for hours (days even maybe, I'm not sure). And she F*CKING WON. She became known as the most intelligent woman - even the most intelligent person - in all of new Spain. She tutored the Vicereine's daughter until the Vicereine moved away. (2/4)

Okay so. Any of y'all know about Sorry Juana Inés de la Cruz? She's an actual person, not a mythological person. She was the bastard daughter of a Spanish soldier and a New Spanish (aka Mexican, although they didn't have their independence yet so they were still "new Spain" ) woman, and everyone hated her for that because they were racist assholes. She loved learning though. She wanted to dress up as a guy to get into university, but her family was like "you do that and you're See More▼ disowned." So instead she went to the New Spanish court, where she became a lady in waiting of the Vicereine. (1/4)

My personal favorite!! Mwindo. He's a mythological African hero. His story starts before he's even born. His dad just wants girls (because in this culture girls are sold as brides, so brides bring money while sons mean loss of money, and Mwindo's dad wants to be rich), so he tells his wives "HAVE GIRLS ONLY OR I'LL GUT YOU." And all but one of them has a daughter. This last one, Mwindo's mom, stays pregnant for like two years. And then Mwindo randomly pops out of her pinky finger See More▼ one day. And she's just like "thank F*CK I'm FREE OF THIS PREGNANCY SH*T" and he just starts toddling around the house singing about how awesome he is. But he has to run away bc he has a dick and his daddy don't like that. So he's raised by his aunt and uncles. And then he comes back to get revenge, or something. But more importantly, he ends up on a quest to the underworld, where he tries to do tasks for the Underworld King™, who gets pissed off at him for some reason and kills him. But Mwindo's magical flyswatter (did I mention he has a super magic flyswatter that he uses for like everything?) brings Mwindo back to life. And so Mwindo kills Underworld King™. But then brings him back to life. Then takes over his father's clan. The end.
Unfortunately, I can't tell you exactly what part of Africa this tale originates in bc English people are dipshits when it comes to caring about other people's cultures and most people in Africa passed these tales down orally rather than writing them (much like pretty much all the Greeks before like Homer), so no one really knows what culture this tale cane from or how it's changed over the decades.
