While a cynical outlook on the world is common across all Dark minds, what isn't is their opinion of themself. Some Dark minds see themselves as a beacon of hope in an otherwise hopeless world, while others believe that they are just as bad as everyone else and hold themself to the same standards as others.
Dark minds are truth-seekers at heart. They want to prove that the world has a dark side, and are often drawn to things that others find disturbing. They love horror and mystery, and may be fascinated by fire, weapons or death even if they aren't violent. They tend to rebel against authority, and feel uncomfortable when they're told what to do.
While most Light minds have been Light their whole lives, Dark minds are usually born Neutral or even Light-minded, being "awakened" later in life. This can lead them to believe that Light minds are incomplete, ignorant or shallow, while they as a Dark mind are mature and know the truth of the world. This means that while you can still get along with Light minds, you tend to argue on a lot of things.
Generally, Dark minds are portrayed as villains, but they would certainly be competent heroes. After all, anyone comfortable with the darker side of the world would be much more emotionally prepared for the dangerous job of a hero. If a hero ever experiences a moral crisis over the course of their character arc, they typically transform from a Light mind to a Dark mind, reexamining themselves and the world around them.
