Stuck

Josh's POV

My eyes flickered open slowly. I felt a horrid pain in my leg. I tired to ignore it and get up. Pushing myself off the ground. I staggered and stayed there on all fours for a second. I slowly got up, I could feel the blood slowly falling down my leg. "Argh..." I got up, the pain was terrible but I pushed on. I looked around, couldn't see anything. It was hot and i didn't have anything on me. I picked up my M4A1 and limped back the way I think we came from. It took me a while to think to check my ear piece. I had to make sure I had signal anyway, so I kept limping to the end of the valley. I put two fingers on my ear. "This is Sargent Smith. I have just been attacked and am injured, requesting e-" I was interrupted by a familiar voice.
"Josh! Josh that you mate?" I heard Jackson say over the ear piece.
"F*ck thought you guys went down" I told him.
"Takes more than that, head to check point two if you can mate. I'm sending the girls to come get you" He told me.
"Can't wait, see you guys soon" I said and took my fingers off my ear. I went back on to my limping.

I was about 50 kliks off the checkpoint and saw a dust trail coming up on me. I stopped and waited. The girls in their T-25 medium tank. I walked up as they stopped and the young gunner helped me up on the tank. I sat down on the side. The girl handed me a flask of water "You look like you need it".
"Thanks" In took it and started to drink some.
"I'm Sapphire" She introduced herself.
"Josh" I stopped drinking and handed it back to her.
"You don't talk much do you?"
"I do, only when I want to though"
"Got a problem with genetics?"
"Yep"
She leaned on the gun. "Why?"
I looked back at her. "'Cause, you're all so stuck up and try to hard to look good than do any good!"
"Jackie just doesn't take any shit" She told me.
"Well Jackie should learn to respect those who earned their position" We stopped talking and just kept going to the checkpoint.

"Thanks for the lift!" I said, slowly getting off the tank. The checkpoint looked rough. It was smoking and people where running here and there. Jackson came up to me.
"Josh, we're getting out of here" He told me, helping me along to our tank.
"Why? What happened?" I asked.
"Commands gone dark, and there is enemy armor everywhere, we're falling back to checkpoint one"
"Right!"
Seems the battle had only just begun.
