Chapter 12.

Gift Basket

At home, 9:23 am, Saturday, December 5th, 2015

Thank God it's Saturday! I was so tired last night because I couldn't fall asleep. I couldn't stop thinking about Mom.

I checked my phone to see if I had gotten any texts. Sam still hasn't replied to the text I sent her yesterday. It's not like she's mad at me. I'm mad at her!

I went downstairs to make breakfast and I was very surprised at what I saw in the kitchen. On the counter, was a huge basket filled with soaps, chocolates and flowers! There was a note inside it. I took it out and gasped. This is what it said:

Shaylee,
Got you this, just 'cause. Hope you like it!
Love,
Tom

Oh my God! He got a gift basket for my mom! It must've been on the front doorstep and my mom saw it when she left for work. I slowly backed away, leaving the present and then ran upstairs. I needed to text someone about this! I would tell Sam, But we're still in that stupid fight. So I decided to tell Amanda about it. I grabbed my phone and texted her:

Me: guess what?! my mom went on a date last night!

She texted back a few seconds later:

Amanda: hang on i'll call u

Just then, my ring tone went off. Amanda's name appeared on the screen.

"Ok, so your mom went on a DATE?" she asked as I soon as I said hi when I picked up. "Ya. I know! I can't believe it either!" I said.
We talked for half an hour, until Amanda had to go to her swim meet. So I went downstairs to get breakfast. I looked at the gift basket and sighed. I was still in shock.
