Chapter 2

I woke up the a migraine and a bright light in my eyes. Trying to shield my eyes from the light was impossible, I couldn’t move my arms. Closing my eyes I leaned my head back and waited about five minutes for my migraine to subside before looking around. The walls, ceiling, and floor were all white and the door had a gray hue to it. I was sitting in front of a metal table that had a metal chair on the other side. Then I looked at myself. My clothes had been changed to a long white sleeved button up shirt and white pants.......no socks or shoes. My hands were strapped down to the arms of the chair and my legs were tied to the legs of the chair. Now I’ve been kidnapped and am in some kind of institution. How fun.?

Groaning I looked up at the bright lights on the ceiling, I mean there's nothing better to do. My body is so stiff I feel like I've been sitting here for hours. The door finally started to creak open and in came the forty year older man with blonde hair and that creep ass smile but this time he wore glasses. He was standing up straight and was holding a manila folder that held a lot of papers.

He looked at me with that creepy ass smile that I've only seen twice and now hate. "I see you're awake. How do you feel?" I stayed quite for a little while thinking about what I should say. I have questions that I need answered but he looks like the type of person who wouldn't give me the answers. "Where am I?" Opening the folder he started looking over the papers "You don't need to know that." Well I figured that would happen. "How long have I been out?" He looked up from the papers "Around five hours, quite a long time really. Normally people wake up after an hour or two, your different."

He slowly started to walk to the chair across from me and sat down placing the folder on the table. Placing his elbows on the table he interlaced his fingers and stopped smiling that horrid smile. "Now I need you to answer some of my questions. Can you do that?" I hesitantly nodded my head. "Good. Are you Haven Lucinda Lane?" Nodding my head I gave him a questioning look. "Tell me when were you born plus the time and what day of the week?" Why do these questions feel like a trap? Why would someone want to know everything about me? Am I going to die in here!

Coming back to reality I seen that Mr. Smiles, the name I have now given him, was growing impatient. "I was born October 13, 6613 at 11:11 p.m. on a Friday." Looking at the papers he nodded his head. Why the hell is he doing that? Of course I'm right I do know when my own birthday is. "What's your blood type?" Alright well this just got extremely weird! Who the hell ask what someone's blood type is?!

I stayed quite not answering anymore of his questions. He kept continuing asking questions like 'Who are your parents?' 'How old are you?' 'Have you committed any crimes?' 'Where do you live?' 'Who do you live with?' 'What school do you go to?' After realizing I wouldn't answer him he sighed dejectedly and got up. "Well we will have to try again in an hour, I guess." Turning around he started walking to the door and opened it. Turning to the side he started talking to someone "Take her to her assigned room we will start again in an hour." I heard a quiet 'Yes sir' and in came the young man from earlier, or should I say the man from five hours ago. He walked towards me and started to undo my restraints. When they were off my hands I started to clench and unclench my hands ,and when he got my feet untied he instructed me to follow him. I figured why the hell not it’s better then sitting in a metal chair all day. Walking out the door I started to inspect the hall. White that's all it was just a white hall way with some white doors, although some doors had plates on them but we were going to fast so I couldn't read them.

I looked back at the man and hoped he might tell me what's going on. "Where are we?" Silence. "Are we still in my town?" Silence. "Why was that guy asking me weird questions?" More silence. "How much longer till we get to my room?" "Not long. Now shut the f*ck up." Well at least I got a response. I wonder what would happen if I asked one more question, well he doesn't know that it’s one more. "Who are you?" I could tell he was starting to get irritated but I couldn't really help it. I mean I'm in a place and don't even know where the place is. "If I tell you will you shut up and not say another damn word." I quick mhm left my mouth and he answered my final question. "My name is Chad and I am you bodyguard. Now no more questions or I will kill you." Well now I'm even more curious about this place. Why do I need a damned bodyguard? Is something bad going to happen? Am I really going to die?! Do they think that I'm insane and stuck me in a mental institution?! Helen come save me! "Your look like you're about to piss yourself. Your not going to f*cking die. The reason people have bodyguards here is because we are making sure you lot don't run away." Run away from what exactly? Your saying that didn't really help much with the situation. "In an hour I will take you back to the Professor. You will answer and do what ever he says." I decided to keep quiet for the remainder of the walk.

We suddenly stopped at a white door, surprising right....not, that had a plate with my name on it. "This is where you will be staying, food is already inside along with everything else you need. After being with the Professor I will explain more things to you about this place. That is if the Professor allows me to." He unlocked the door and opened it for me to enter. I walked in and looked around but not for long since the room was plain, boring, and you guessed it.....white. Turning back around to the man I seen he started to close the door but stopped. "Your bathroom is on the wall to the left. Also no one is monitoring you as of now try to escape at anytime and we will change your room to a place that has cameras everywhere." He finally closed the door and I looked at my room more.

I had a comfortable looking bed in the corner that was turned sideways, my food was in front of the bed on a silver tray. There was a white dresser close to the foot of the bed. On the other wall close to the bathroom door was a black clock. The only other thing in the room was another door, and a vent on my right wall, the door I assumed was a closet. I walked to my bed sitting on it and looked at my food. Pancakes and sausage with a cup of orange juice. It looked good I just hope it taste as good as it looks.

1 hour later 8:24 am

I heard two knocks on the door and it opened, standing in the door way was my 'bodyguard.' Sighing I got up from my bed and walked to the door closing it as I went out. The entire walk back to the interrogation room was quite. I had nothing to say and even if I did Chad wouldn't answer me.

Arriving at a door Chad opened it and motioned me inside. "The Professor will be here shortly so take a seat and be quiet." Nodding my head I went to the same metal seat I had sat in just an hour ago and watched as Chad closed the door. Now all I can do is wait. I mean it could be worse I could have been restrained again.

The door started to open again and in came Mr. Smiles. "Hello Mrs. Lane. I'm sorry about the restraints earlier they were just a precaution." Sitting down in front of me again he placed the some manila folder on the table. "Now I won't be asking those same questions this time it will be something different." I furrowed my eyebrows wondering what this man will ask now. "Do you know why you are here?" I grew an. angry smile on my face and answered him "If I had know why I was here do you think I would have answered your questions earlier instead of staying quiet." Chuckling he interlaced his hands on top of the still closed folder. "Your correct. Alright have your heard of project clockwork?" I looked at him with a shocked expression on my face remembering that name from the news. Sighing he unlaced his fingers and pushed his glasses up then leaned back. "Seems like you have. Tell me all that you know?" I looked down still having a shocked look in my face but now it was also mixed with a confusion. "I remember it was around two years ago. The news had suddenly came on and informed everyone about a burning building. They said that people wearing all white started to run out, some on fire some not. The lady reporting said something about the project. They thought it caused the fire. She tried asking police officers questions about the fire and what the project was. They told her it was to early to know anything." He nodded his head and folded his arms in front of him. "Do you know how they found out about the name clockwork?" Looking up at him I shook my head. "I just heard a rumor at school that it was leaked to the press." Getting up from his chair he grabbed the folder and motioned for me to follow him. "We are going to take a long walk and I will tell you about clockwork." Nodding I stood up from the chair and followed Mr. Smiles as we exited the room. Mr. Smiles turned to Chad when he exited the room. "Chad follow us I'm going to tell her about clockwork."

As Mr. Smiles walked he started to explain project clockwork to me. "You see Mrs. Lane project clockwork has been around since 6136, the year the first pocket watch was made. The owner of said pocket watch died three months after making clockwork. After the owners death scientist found the watch and started to do experiment on it." I interrupted him quickly asking a question "But why a simple pocket watch?" He chuckled at my question "You'll see later. Now where was I. Oh right scientist experimented on the watch. We actually had a hard time doing that considering everytime we touched it it burned us." "Well then how did you pick it up and move it to your 'lab'." I felt a kick on the back of my leg and turned around to see only Chad. Bastered just because you won't answer my questions doesn't mean he won't. "One of us had found a bag and the other quickly touched it and dropped it in. Although he still got burned. Now continuing. Non of us could actually touch it and we later though only the owner could but that was until one of the scientist brought her thirteen year old son to work. She was busy doing things and had placed him in her office. The child got bored and started to wonder around. He came across the room where we worked on clockwork. When he opened the door he found a pocket watch. When he picked it up nothing happened to him. Everyone was confused as to why a child could pick it up but an adult couldn't. So we tested something. Everyone was to bring their child to work and they would hold the watch. That test was a fail because all the children would get burned. We concluded that the watched could pick it's own owner. We started monitoring the child and the watch seeing if anything would happen. When the child turned eighteen he suddenly died without a cause." Alright well that's strange. I feel like he is leaving important details out of this story. "Okay well that's a nice story and all but that doesn't explain why you had to kidnap me." He suddenly stopped and stood in front of a ten foot door. He looked over his shoulder at me and opened the door. A bright light started to shine through and I had to sheild my eyes.

"We're just doing a experiment is all."
