Chapter 2.

Part 2

The movement helped warm the him up more, allowing him to sleep more comfortably. the two slept for what seemed like hours, Karkat sprawled across Dave as he merely held the troll close. He shifted himself a few timed during the nap, causing him to have his face buried into Daves neck, his soft breathes sweeping across his skin, flowing over and gently brushing at him, making his hair flutter slightly. His arms where wrapped around him still, only this time his fingers where digging into the humans neck. His legs where tangled into the others legs still, his left one wrapped around one while the right one was lifted up between the two, his thigh digging in-between Daves legs and curling around the the other leg. His eyes fluttered open and he witnessed the scene before him, shocked at first, but ignored it, pretending to still be sleeping as he laid there, his heart beginning to beat rapidly.

Dave never really moved much in his sleep so his position stayed the same. Only moving when karkat had shifted to a new position but still let his arm lay rested on his back. Dave wasn't easily woken either, he'd have to be dragged off his current sleeping spot to meet the ground before he would actually wake up, not even yelling could wake the blond boy up from his sleep. His mouth was barley open and slightly tilted to the side to let the drool from the cress of his lips travel down his cheek. By the time karkat was awake Dave was still sleeping with new drool starting to come down from the cress of his lip which he always found embarrassing for when he woke up and needed to wipe his own saliva off himself but he never slept around people anyways other than a nap but he purposely never laid down so drool wouldn't have the chance to form if he tilted his head as a freeway to let the drool travel down his face.

Karkat continued watching him sleep. He wasn't intending to come of as creep as he laid there, tangled in with the human, breathing against his neck. He just couldn't stop staring. He felt his heart beat against his chest and he let out a shaky sigh, his breath brushing against Daves neck again. Karkat honestly could not understand his feelings for the human. Sometimes he hinted red while other times he would hint at black, but to no avail, it seemed the human wanted to keep things pale. Either that or he just didn't take notice. The troll took advantage of the situation and slowly began brushing his fingers through the others hair, detangling it. He then noticed the drool going down his chin and took the sleeve of his sweater, wiping it away gently. He smiled slightly and continued to brush his hair, twirling the blonde strands around his fingers every so often, his heart beating faster in fear that he would get caught.

Dave started to mumbled under his breath in his sleep, making his words unable to he understood when his mouth barley opened to let anything out. Dave usually wouldn't sleep for so long but he must have been too comfortable to even let his conscious give him a wake up call as an alert to tell himself that he had been sleeping for too long like it always had. The small touches from karkat's hands only made him move his arms slightly instead of moving his head. After moving his arms at the slightest on karkat's back his eyebrows furrowed as he groaned softly, shutting his eyes even tighter when his head moved to face the seeking instead of looking to the side

Karkat held his breath and froze from the movement, not taking his eyes off him as he he felt Daves hands move against his back. He proceeded to bite his lip as he heard him groan, retreating his hands and sliding them around his waist before laying his head on Daves arm. He closed his eyes and began pretending to sleep, hoping Dave didn't notice and would either wake up and push him away or relax so he could continue doing what he was doing. Honestly, being able to see the humans sleeping face only made the troll find him all that more desirable. He usually wasn't one to pay attention to looks but at this moment, he was very attracted to the human and couldn't lie, he was amazingly sculpted. Karkat wasn't going to suddenly change though and go after Dave for mere looks, oh no. He was looking for a certain something, and truth be told, he had a feeling it could work between them.

Dave slowly rolled his head from side to side, making his shades squeak behind his ears before opening his eyes with another small groan. He tried to look down at karkat to see if he was still sleeping but from his view the small troll was still fast asleep except it was obvious to Dave that they had moved during their nap, mainly karkat from what it seemed. At this point Dave wasn't sure if he should wake karkat up or not, he seemed to be comfortable where he was but now that Dave was awake he wanted the privilege to be able to move freely instead of being stuck beneath the sleeping troll. His hands slowly rose off of karkat's back so he could push his shades up at the slightest to rub his eyes in an attempt to gain his clear sight back but to him it was just a mer excuse to reposition his arms to be lower down on karkat's back, being right above karkat's pants line

The small troll stiffened at the feel of Daves arm resting so low on his backside. His heart continued to race as he laid there, shifting slightly so he could hide his face in Daves neck, his face flushed and eyes wide open. He was sure it was a mistake. Maybe the human accidentally placed his hand there, or was it an invitation for more? He wasn't quite sure but he had a feeling he was slightly over thinking things. He looked up slightly at the humans shaded gaze, hoping he wouldn't be discovered.

The blond sighed before trying to look at karkat again, not really able to see him while his face was buried deep into the cress of his neck, eventually he just gave up and stared at the celling again after getting just a peek of the shorter troll's opened eyes which seemed to be looking straight at him "I know you're awake" he continued to stare at the celling when he spoke, keeping his voice at a decent pitch so he wasn't too loud or too quiet for karkat to hear him or act as if he hadn't. How long had karkat been awake anyway? Had Dave woken him up with his arm movements or was Dave's head just playing tricks on him. Maybe the blond should have just kept quiet and let karkat do what he wanted but it was too late to turn back on his own actions. If he had pretended to not know than his other conscious would tell him to force karkat into giving up and quit pretending except Dave wasn't truly sure why karkat would pretend to still be asleep if he had been faking

Grumbling in annoyance, he looked up at Dave fully, his lips in a straight line, eyebrows slightly scrunched. He should have known he was going to get caught, what with him looking up and all. He decided to roll with it and try to make it seem as if he just woke up, mustering a fake yawn and stretching his limbs out. He tightened his arms around the cool kids waist and his legs tightened around the others as he did so before pulling them back and looking up at the him. "I JUST WOKE UP ASSH*LE. DON'T BE SO F*CKING LOUD." He couldn't tell him he was pretending to sleep so that whenever and if ever he fell back asleep, he could play with his hair again.

Dave heard the short troll's groan and slightly grinned as he continued to look at the celling until he felt a strong grip come around his waist than legs. His head only moved slightly down to give Dave a better view of karkat even though his face still wasn't visible though the rest of his body was clear for Dave to see "I thought you were already up before ?" He felt a little guilty after being told that he had woke karkat up but he had really thought that he had seen karkat's opened eyes when he glanced at him just a few minuets early "you can go back to sleep if you want" Dave was still a little tired himself but he couldn't sleep more than another hour without waking up again if he ever managed to make himself sleep once more so he could have his full energy back for when the blond woke up again

He gaped at the fact that Dave believed him. The fact that Dave honestly thought that he had just woken up and even thought he did it was points for the troll. He looked up at him again and decided to just cut the crap and be truthful. He was expecting Dave to call his bluff and cause a argument between them, but it didn't happen so he might as well admit it. He wasn't going to be nice about it though. Now that he had his rest he could go back to his chipper self. " NO. I HAVE BEEN UP FOR A WHILE, PLAYING WITH YOUR HAIR. IS THAT GUILT I SENSE IN YOUR USUAL OBNOXIOUS VOICE? I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU ACTUALLY THOUGHT I JUST WOKE UP. WHY WOULD IT MATTER TO YOU ANYWAYS? THE SOONER I WAS UP THE SOONER I WOULD BE OUT OF YOUR HAIR RIGHT? I WOULD LOVE TO GO BACK TO SLEEP BUT DO YOU ACTUALLY WANT ME AROUND ANY LONGER? I HIGHLY DOUBT IT." he hadn't meant to come off too harshly but his self esteem got in the way, causing his playful harshness to come off as hateful.

Dave looked back at the celling again as soon as karkat started to speak, his plane expression quickly going to a rather confused and shocked facial appearance. Was karkat actually playing with Dave's hair before he had woken up? To Dave it did come off a little odd but maybe that's why karkat tried to cover it up with anger towards the blonde and karkat /was/ right, Dave did feel guilty when he had thought that the small troll's awakening was because of him "well yeah I'm a little weirded out by the hair playing you apparently did but I won't get mad at you for it, and yes I did think you were sleeping once you told me that you were but why would you lie in the first place?" The blonde kept his confused expression as he continued to stare up at the celling "don't act as if I hate you because I don't but you didn't have to lie to me but you also didn't have to admit the hair playing" Dave laughed softly and looked down in an attempt to see karkat's face again if he had moved to a more visible position over the blonde but he was still barley visible when Dave didn't but his greatest effort to moving since he was still in the tired mood from waking up recently

He began blushing big time after this. The red spreading from his cheeks, to his ears as he clenched his teeth and closed his eyes tightly. He began letting out a sort of growling sound from the back of his throat, though it wasn't exactly growling, it was something like it. He wasn't aggravated with Dave, he was aggravated with himself for making himself all that more vulnerable. He should have kept his mouth shut, but him being him, just didn't know how. " OKAY YES I WAS PLAYING WITH YOUR HAIR MOMENTARILY. THAT DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING AT ALL. I GUESS I WAS JUST CURIOUS ON THE TEXTURE? F*CK. I DON'T KNOW. LEAVE ME ALONE ABOUT IT. I WASN'T REALLY LYING WHEN I SAID I JUST WOKE UP. I DID. JUST NOT IN THAT PARTICULAR MOMENT. OKAY SO I'VE BEEN UP FOR A WHILE, WHO GIVES A F*CK? ITS NOT LIKE I WAS GOING TO TRY ANYTHING SICK OR PERVERTED ON YOU." The entire time he babbled he couldn't stop regretting each and every single idiotic word that flew from his mouth, haunting him now. He opened his eyes and looked at Dave, who was still looking up at the ceiling. He couldn't see his facial expression very well, even with the shades hiding his face. He clenched Daves shirt tightly in both frustration and embarrassment, dipping his head back down to hide his cherry red grey skin.

Dave smiled as karkat began to talk again, his words were actually quite amusing when the short troll started to confess even more. It's not like Dave was going to get angry at him for any of this but he could probably mess around with karkat for a while "stop acting as if I'm going to be angry at you okay. If you don't want me to bring up he hair playing shit right now than I won't, and if you want to go back to sleep again that's fine with me just don't go over the weird boundaries. So really, just don't do what seems ridiculously weird to do" he shrugged his shoulders at the slightest and continued to smile after looking down to see the red flustered troll on top of him. Man karkat must have been real embarrassed for even his ears to go so red but the blonde actually found it as something he enjoyed to see since he really only got red when mad, not embarrassed but why would he care so much about what Dave thought anyways? Dave could care less about small incidents like this and by then he would think that karkat would know well enough that Dave was pretty calm about most things sometimes, especially after waking up from a long nap

Daves words both calmed and stressed him even more. He was glad that he wasn't mad at him but also a little worried by what he meant when he said nothing over the weird boundaries. He took a deep breath and bit his lip, moving his hands from where they where so he could clutch the front of the humans shirt. "I COULD CARE LESS IF YOU BROUGHT UP ME PLAYING WITH YOUR HAIR DAVE. ONCE AGAIN, ITS NOT LIKE I WAS DOING ANYTHING MORE. STOP ACTING LIKE I'M GOING TO TRY TO F*CKING KISS YOU IN YOUR SLEEP. THE FACT YOU THINK I WOULD PLAN TO DO ANYTHING MORE THAN TOUCH YOUR HAIR SHOWS JUST HOW HUGE THE EGO IS OF YOURS. IF YOU WANT TO GO BACK TO SLEEP THEN FINE. I COULD GIVE LESS A F*CK ON WHAT YOU DO." there he went again, ranting and babbling. He didn't really want to push Dave away just yet but he always ended up allowing his insecurities do the talking. As he felt his shoulders lift, he was finally able to get his beating heart under control. His blushing was still there, toned down slightly, and he let out a shaky breath before his breathing finally got to normal. He was sure though that this would not continue for long once he heard Daves reply.

Dave's smile quickly vanished, turning to a solum frown instead. When he said weird boundaries he meant not touching his shades or purposely hugging too tight when awake, not karkat going to kiss him since he never thought that the troll would be weird enough to even try it. He knew karkat hated him too much to have a lot of affection towards him but karkat's brain just seemed to be thinking of what Dave acted like instead of what he really was. Personally Dave wasn't all that self centered but he knew that he acted as if all attention was on him even though it was known well that tge only attention he got is when he messed something up or did something out of his character like smiling too much, sometimes even a simple laugh got him a few surprised looks "I never said that you would I was just saying think before you do weird stuff and you're making it hard to sleep when you keep babbling on about dumb crap instead of actually relaxing for once" he slightly raised his voice instead of being calm like before, hating the fact that the small troll looked at Dave as some sort of narcissist

His heart sunk when Dave ceased his smiling. He was actually enjoying the positive emotion emitting from him and he screwed it up. To make matters worse the human raised his voice, the calmness decapitating. He puffed his cheeks out and glared at his hands, clutching his shirt tighter. "WELL WE WOULDN'T BE HAVING THIS CONVERSATION IF YOU WOULD STOP ASSUMING THAT I'M GOING TO DO ANYTHING CREEPY WHILE YOU SLEEP. JUST SHUT UP DAVE. DO YOU WANT ANOTHER HOUR OR NOT? I'M GETTING UP AND LEAVING. ILL JUST FIND SOME FOOD FOR US TO EAT, WHERE EVER THAT MAY BE. I DIDN'T NECESSARILY MEAN UGH... NEVER MIND. F*CK OFF." He got up from laying on the human, knowing he most likely just blew it and stood up.

The blonde continued to frown as he felt the warmth of the other leave him. He didn't really mean to get him upset or angry but Dave met his breaking point on just sitting their and taking it so calmly. The only thing that triggered him is that karkat had looked at him as some sort of narcissist and it really wasn't something knew to be heard but the fact that karkat thought of him like that made his heart sink. Why would Dave care so much of what he thought anyways? It's not like either of them would have a stable relationship if they can't even have a whole conversation without anger being involved "I'm sorry that you think I'm some sort of narcissist but you don't have to get mad at me for everything I say and the truth is, I really didn't mind the hair playing and every time you gripped my shirt or hugged me tighter but I do mind the fact that you think of me like that. I wasn't expecting you to kiss me or anything like that, I don't even know what I was expecting for you to do because I probably wouldn't even care anyways" her turned his back to the small troll as he spoke, having more of an upsetting tone than something associated with anger. He turned his back just so he wouldn't have to look at karkat as he spoke, causing most of his words to be muffled into the couch, making his voice lower than it really should

He looked to the side slightly, biting his lip. He didn't actually think Dave was narcissistic. He was merely saying things to get him to leave him alone. Yes, he had believed that Dave did, in a way, have a ego but he didn't think he was narcissistic. He wished that he could have not said anything. He was glad that Dave didn't mind him hugging and touching his hair but the kissing bit? He was slightly worried that if he stayed any longer he would. He couldn't believe he actually heard what he said but he did and he was relieved in a way. The tone in his voice made Karkat change his mind. He sat back down on the couch and reached out to Dave, running his fingers through his hair again, his heart beating fast again, this time because he was awake. "I'M SORRY. CAN WE JUST IGNORE ALL OF THIS? THAT WOULD BE NICE."

Dave felt his shades being forced up against his nose from having his face pushed into the couch, sure he had a fear of them bending or breaking but it didn't really matter at the moment. He felt karkat lay down next to him again but now that he was awake he was actually able to feel the troll's fingers running through his hair which was oddly...calming in a way "that's kinda what I was hopping to do once you started getting angry" he mumbled and still didn't bother to move his position, already being comfortable where he was. Dave was actually surprised that karkat had said sorry to him for once, he never said sorry for anything unless someone was crying but Dave wasn't, he was just a little closed up at the moment and even he couldn't fully understand why he felt like this

After hearing that Dave was planning on doing what he was doing to his hair, his eyes widened in surprise. He was genuinely shocked at hearing this and his heart began beating a little faster. He smiled slightly, glad to know this little tidbit. He continued to run his fingers through his hair, twirling the blonde strands. He allowed his other arm to go around his waist, his fingers brushing over the material of his clothes slowly until his arm was wrapped around him. He tangled his legs back with his, pressing his chest against the humans back. He nuzzled his face into the back of his neck. "WHY WOULD YOU HAVE DONE THAT?" his voice was muffled by the boys neck, sending vibrations along his neck.

The blonde boy didn't know if he was supposed to feel uncomfortable or not with how close karkat was but it really wasn't something new considering they were just sleeping together earlier except with karkat pressed up against his back it made it a little more of an uncomfortable position mentally "I don't know. Don't question things" he wanted to push off the question and just sleep since he was slowly adjusting to their new position but once they fell asleep it wouldn't matter. Dave hesitated to take his shades off and let them fall to the ground after closing his eyes beneath them so he could burry his face further into the couch

"YOU BROUGHT IT UP. SHOULDN'T YOU AT LEAST EXPLAIN YOURSELF INSTEAD OF PUSHING OFF THE QUESTION? ALL I WANTED TO KNOW WAS WHY." karkat continued to cuddle into Dave, his curiosity growing by the second. He didn't see what the big deal was with his question. He was still slightly tired but his curiosity was peaked. His shirt was slightly riding up his chest but he ignored it, feeling at ease in the position he was in, even if it was slightly uncomfortable in a way.

Dave let out a small groan and slightly bent his knees to get a little more comfortable in his position "why what?" He acted dumb just so he wouldn't have to answer the question still and kept his voice low as if he was too tired to answer the question anyways. If he was lucky the troll on his back would give up and sleep but knowing him he would be reluctant to find out what Dave had meant. Sure it seemed like a stupid question to avoid unless there was a good reason for it and in Dave's case he did have a good reason to be avoiding things but he wasn't going to be consistent with his wise remarks

Karkat frowned at Daves reply. He didn't understand what the big deal was in the reply. He decided to continue pushing at him for answers. "DAVE DO NOT PLAY DUMB WITH ME. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS SAY WHY YOU SAID THAT YOU WHERE HOPPING TO DO WHAT I AM DOING TO YOU WHEN I GOT MAD. AT LEAST MAN UP AND ANSWER ME GOD DAMMIT." His tone was slightly more serous then usual. Though he knew it didn't seem like much, the answer was really important to him, not that he would confess this to the human. Karkat pressed himself closer to the human, slightly cold again, shifting his legs to follow Daves moved ones.

"I don't know okay. I wasn't thinking when I spoke. Maybe you just got confused with what I meant, I could have just been agreeing with you when you said you wanted to ignore all of this" he knew that none of his responses made all that much sense but how was he supposed to say that he wanted all of this without sounding like a hypocrite for getting mad at the troll for lying to him before ? Dave wished that he hadn't let his feelings get mixed into his words even at the slightest, it's like karkat was waiting for Dave to give him some sort of sign to show that he had feelings or some sort of affection for the troll. Dave had kept his eyes closed since he had taken his shades off but now regretted throwing them on the floor but it wouldn't be something to worry about until the blonde would actually need them again which would be pretty soon if either of them got angry at each other again to where one would want to leave the other alone on the couch

This reply made him slightly upset, but at least he got a answer right? He should be glad the human answered him when he could have just pushed him away, ignore the troll even, but he didn't. One thing for sure was that he answered his question without answering it. He heard and understood all of what the human said. "DAVE. WANTING TO TOUCH MY HAIR HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH AGREEING TO IGNORE OUR EARLIER ARGUMENT BUT THEN AGAIN I PROBABLY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. THAT COULD HAVE BEEN ANOTHER PATHETIC HUMAN METAPHOR. ALSO, I'M NOT GOING TO PRESS ANY FURTHER. IF YOU WANT TO ACT LIKE I'M SOME F*CKING IDIOT WHO CAN'T UNDERSTAND ONE WORD YOU SAY, GO AHEAD. I'M JUST GOING TO IGNORE YOUR BULLSH*T." He then proceeded to get up from the couch and leave again, tired of bickering with him. He didn't wait for his reply as he began walking away, only to trip over his feet and fall face first, letting out a growl as he laid there, his face cherry red.

Dave listened closely to what karkat was saying but still couldn't understand it all. He knew he should have just told the truth to begin with to avoid the smaller troll's anger but he honestly couldn't say it. No matter what happened he wouldn't embarrass himself like that when he didn't even know how karkat felt about him, or how he even felt about karkat. Dave didn't bother to turn his back or open his eyes when karkat got up until he heard the thud, only opening his eyes to see the couch in front of him "I don't think you're and idiot but you could at least watch where you step" he chuckled as he got up, keeping himself faced towards the couch when he bent down to pick up his shades from the floor and quickly shoved them back over his eyes "I didn't really think you were going to believe it anyways" Dave held out a hand towards karkat after walking over from his current standing position by the couch to where the troll had fallen. Even with his tinted, dark, shades the flustered red blush on karkat's face was still visible enough to make the blonde's grin grow winder

"IT SURE SEEMED LIKE IT." He replied before looking up at Dave. He took notice of his smile and the outreached hand and glared at him. "AND F*CK OFF STRIDER. I CAN GET UP MYSELF." even though that's what he said, he reached out and excepted the humans outstretched palm, the warmth of his hand caused him to flush a little more than he already was. He looked away and chewed on his bottom lip as he used Daves hand to slowly get up. Once he was fully up and standing he mumbled out a thanks and turned away from him.

The blonde just rolled his eyes when karkat had told him to leave but he still kept his hand out since he knew the shorter troll was only embarrassed and once again used his anger as a cover up "your welcome but are you okay? You fell pretty roughly" Dave held back a laugh and let his hand drop to his side after helping his grey friend up from the ground where he had unfortunately fallen down. He hated the fact that karkat continued to be embarrassed about himself, not even able to say a simple thank you loud enough for Dave to hear clearly just because he was too embarrassed still, not only that but he had turned opposite of the blonde just so he couldn't look at him anymore

"I'M FINE DAVE. THANKS FOR YOUR CONCERN. ITS JUST A SMALL SCRATCH..." and it truly was. Karkat had a scrape along his cheek now and he was sure blood could have slightly emitted itself. His cheek was burning and his nose hurt. He didn't think it was that bad until he felt something run down his lip. Reaching out, he stroked right above his lip and pulled his hand back to inspect the blood that was slowly oozing from his nose. It wasn't a lot but there was blood none the less. "DAVE... DO YOU HAVE ANY RAGS OR TISSUE HANDY? PROBABLY NOT BUT ITS A GOOD QUESTION TO ASK."

Dave moved around karkat so he wasn't faced to his back anymore and inspected the cut before a trail of blood appeared from his nose, traveling down the troll's face slowly until even karkat had realized its presents "I don't have anything know but-" he grabbed his cape hesitantly and brought it up close to karkat's nose, not caring about the blood stain since it would somewhat blend in with the red on his cape anyways "I would let you do this yourself but remember, "no one touches the cape" other than me of course" the blonde let out a small chuckle as he continued to wipe all the blood until he used his empty hand to tilt the troll's head up, mainly just as a tease but also to step the blood from coming down so fast

Karkat blushed the entire time Dave was tending to him, his heart still beating rapidly against his chest. The fact the the human used his cape both shocked and touched the troll. He felt happy in knowing that he had enough importance to Dave that he would risk ruining his cape. Once his head was tilted up, his breath hitched. He slowly looked up and gazed into Daves shades, looking where he would imagine the eyes to be located. He glanced down to his lips before looking back up. Yes, he may have just face planted into the ground but at this moment he didn't really care. Daves actions comforted him in a way. He continued to glance from Daves, most likely to be, eyes and his lips before letting out a soft sigh and inching slightly closer to him.

Dave snickered once karkat's blush became visible for him to notice. He continued to wipe away whatever blood was left before letting his cape sit in front of the small troll's nose to absorb any new blood when it came down "do you want some ice or something once the bleeding stops?" He grinned and didn't pay much attention to what karkat was glancing to but he did notice his eyes moving consonantly except the blonde could care less about what the troll was so interested in looking at. Dave was hoping that karkat's blood would simply wash out of his cape since he wouldn't want to take it off just so Kanaya could clean it out professionally. He was just lucky that karkat's blood was a similar red to his cape even though it was a little off on color where it was visible to Dave on where he had dried up the blood

Daves snickering irked him slightly, but it didn't effect him enough to want to back down. His confidence was slowly depreciating as the closer he got to the human and he didn't notice. What if he was pushed away? what if Dave didn't care as much as he was thinking he did. "I'M FINE... REALLY." he replied to the question, standing on the tips of his toes now, as he reached out and clutched the front of Daves shirt. He hoped for both balance and recognition from his actions. He didn't know why the human was grinning and he could care less at that moment. His fingers dug into the material as he stopped moving closer to the human. His nerves where jittery and his blush was increasing along with the rapid thumping of his heart. He licked his lips and continued to look up at Dave, waiting for anything to give him more confidence.

Dave instantly took notice to karkat going on his toes which was understandable but once he had grabbed the humans red shirt, he got a little confused to what he was doing. The shirt grabbing did strike him as odd but he could have just been trying to be balanced or in some sort of pain where he needed to grab something? The blonde really wasn't sure why karkat had chose to grab his shirt but he wasn't complaining "you want a stool too?" He joked as he lowered his cape back down to flow behind him again once he had thought the bleeding stopped but his grin stayed. Dave knew that the troll didn't like his jokes but most of the time Dave just couldn't miss the opportunity to use his clever words against the now cherry red troll. He felt as if his jokes just made things worse most of the time when he knew well that karkat had no tolerance for them

The troll clenched his teeth and growled slightly. He then proceeded to shove Dave back and flip him off before leaving. His confidence totally blown out as he stomped off to leave Dave by himself. He mumbled and grumbled to himself in annoyance as his face continued to stay red in embarrassment. The fact that the human could be so dense pissed Karkat off even more. It was like, no matter how hard he tried, the universe wanted things to either be platonic or black. Karkat wasn't really interested in just a black though. He wanted someone he could be red with but pretend to be black with them without it changing into a kismesitude officially. Everything about the situation. upsetted the small troll as he stomped away from Dave, heading anywhere but where they were.

Dave felt regret come over him as he watched karkat stomp off. Can't he just say one thing without messing everything up? It seemed to him that everything he said gave him a negative outcome "Look I'm sorry karks. You know I was just joking" he complained as he followed closely behind the troll. Dave didn't mean for karkat to walk away but he should have expected it if he had actually thought before saying something to the high tempered troll that was practically controlled by anger. His grin had long left after seeing karkat's angry expression and was now replaced to a small frown that changed his whole expression in a matter of seconds. The blonde boy was basically just secretly begging for his grey skinned friend not to leave or be mad at him though he didn't want to seem desperate so he kept his sorry short, not wanting to explain why he would say something so utterly stupid and cover it as an unnecessary joke against the other

Karkat turned on his heals, glaring at Dave. "FIRST, MY NAME IS NOT KARKS. ITS KARKAT. NOT KARKS NOT KARKLEZ NOT KARKITTY NOT KK, JUST KARKAT. ALSO, I KNOW YOU WERE JOKING AND THAT'S WHAT PISSES ME OFF. YOU COULD AT LEAST SHOW A TIBIT OF RESPECT WHEN I AM TRYING TO RELAY MY F*CKING FEELINGS TO YOU BUT NO, YOU HAVE TO BE A F*CKING INSUFFERABLE PRICK AND RUB SALT IN THE WOUND DON'T YOU? YOU TEASED ME ABOUT MY HIGHT AND WAS TOTALLY OBLIVIOUS TO THE FACT THAT I WAS TRYING TO F*CKING KISS YOU. F*CK OFF DAVE. I CAN'T BELIEVE I WASTED THIS MUCH OF MY TIME TRYING TO ATTEMPT THE IMPOSSIBLE." He huffed and clenched his his teeth and fists after he spoke before turning around and walking off again.

Dave couldn't believe what he was hearing, karkat had feelings for him? Not only that but Dave was completely blind to the fact that he was attempting to get recognized enough for Dave to kiss him when the troll had gripped his shirt. How was Dave supposed to respond to this? It's not something that he could just play off and be done with. No. This wasn't messing around anymore, karkat had tried to express some sort of love and Dave acted completely blind to what he had wanted the whole time "I- uh-...." He really just didn't know what to say anymore. He speed up until he was in front of karkat and stopped him before bending his knees juristically and opening out his arms "sorry....I know I could be a real idiot sometimes-..../all/ the time but I really didn't know so could we just-...try again?" The blonde was expecting karkat to just pass off his hug as if he didn't realize just like Dave had passed off his attempted kiss just minuets before. The hug was mainly just to comfort karkat instead of striking him with a random kiss out of nowhere when he was already too late to return it.

Karkat didn't know whether to be insulted by the ridiculous amount of bending at the knees that Dave did or comforted. He was already angry enough, what with the rejection he was feeling. He responded the angry way. "WOAH. THAT MAKES ME FEEL SO F*CKING GREAT DAVE. WHY DON'T YOU RUB MORE SALT IN THE WOUND, ADD A LITTLE VINEGAR WHILE YOUR AT IT. I CANNOT F*CKING BELIEVE YOU. I AM NOT SO F*CKING SHORT YOU NEED TO GET ON YOUR KNEES TO GIVE ME A HUG. YOU AREN'T A IDIOT DAVE. THAT WOULD BE A INSULT TO OTHER IDIOTS OUT THERE. YOU'RE A F*CKING PRICK. THANKS FOR TEASING ME MORE AFTER I JUST CONFESSED TO YOU. YOU ARE QUITE THE CHARMER." After he ranted out a bit of his anger, his lip began to quiver. he quickly shoved past Dave and continued walking, trying to catch a hold of his emotions. He took a few deep breaths as he walked and his lip stopped quivering as he continued on his path. He growled before turning back and stomping to Dave, grasping him by his shirt and pulling him down and planting a quick and angry kiss on his lips.
