The Choice
Time slowed as Applejack fell. Rainbow was screaming her name. People on the ground were looking up to see the blonde headed country girl falling. Before Rainbow could stop herself, she leapt after her, not caring if she got hurt, only wanting Applejack to be safe. Nothing flashed before Rainbow's eyes as she tackled Applejack by the waist, turning in air so her back was to the ground. Nothing except for her family, which she loved and missed dearly. As they fell, she wished they never hit the bottom. She squeezed her eyes shut, waiting impact. It came and knocked the wind out of her. She opened her eyes weakly to look at Applejack to make sure she was okay. Everything was blurry, but she could make out a ring around the two girls, Applejack sitting on her belly, crying her eyes out, begging for her to come back. Rainbow tried to move, but found that she couldn't. She couldn't speak. As her vision became clearer, she noticed something. She was dead. The fall broke her entire body, killing her instantly. She was a spirit. Rising from her body, she looked at it. There was blood all around it. Her eyes, once full of life, were open, staring at nothing, blank and empty. There were tears on her cheeks, a mixture of Applejack's and hers. The ghost of her last smile, a sad one, was still etched onto her face. When she looked up, she saw a hooded figure before her, the ground obscured by it's shadow. It should have made her feel nervous, but she was actually comforted by it. The figure was Death itself.
