The Disney Princesses

The Disney Princesses

I have been watching all my childhood favorites and am starting to realize some things. For now, I'm going to stick with just the princesses but if people want or this gets popular I'll continue. Let's think about the princesses!

Chapter 3.
The Second Row

The Second Row

Aurora from The Sleeping Beauty~

Pros: Optimism; beauty; grace

Cons: Total stereotype of pretty girl

Aurora is nice because she is beautiful, kind, and perfect.

Cinderella from Cinderella~

Pros: She is obedient, kind, loving, hopeful, and beautiful.

Cons: She is obedient, gullible, naive, and backbone-less.

Again, just totally perfect girl.

Esmerelda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame~

Pros: She is strong-willed, talented, wants equal rights for everyone and fights for them, and he is brave.

Cons: She is against the law making her a technical criminal.

I love Esmerelda because she is strong and brave and kind and she wants equality for all.

Rapunzel from Tangled~

Pros: She is independent (well towards the end) and brave; she is creative; she is obedient (well in the beginning); she is smart

Cons: She is gullible and naive (well she was)

I like Rapunzel not only because of how good the movie was but because she built up her courage and did what she wanted to.

I don't know If you knew, but Megara was killed by Hercules in the Greek myth.
Not to criticize your love of Disney, but they made hundreds of mistakes in Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland and the little mermaid. Just one other note, the Hercules movie has the same name as the myth and most of the same characters but a totally different plot which ruined it for See More▼

This is not about the true fairytales hence the title of DISNEY princesses. If I did the other princesses I would say The ORIGINAL princesses. This is about disney and nothing else.

Got it, I'm just annoyed about the Star Wars thing because I loved the new Jedi order books that (sadly) are not true anymore.

Have you noticed that almost all the Disney Princesses are incredibly naive?

First off, excellent analysis. However, keep in mind the years their films were produced. Many of the most beloved and classic princesses were created in the 1930s (Snow White) on up through the 1950s (Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Alice) where gender roles dominated a lot of the society and people were much more conservative. They started to branch out a bit See More▼
