Chapter 32

When I arrived at my Maths classroom, I was allowed to go in and sit down straight away, so I walked inside and sat myself down next to Mica. I got my pencil case out of my bag, then we sat there for a few minutes, awaiting the beginning of the lesson.

I really wanted to talk to Mica, but I couldn't, because people would probably see us and ask questions. But fortunately, at that moment, I saw him take a scrap of paper from his blazer pocket, and scribble something on it. Then he folded it up, and pushed the note into my hand. I opened it up under the table, assuming it was about what had happened in the last lesson.

"I'm sorry about what Jade and Emily said about you," it read.

I smiled at the note, then I began to write him one back.

"It's okay. They were making fun of you more," I wrote underneath his message, then I passed it back.

He read it, then he wrote something else under it and gave it to me.

"Come over to my house again tonight. We can talk about this there," Mica wrote to me.

I wasn't sure if I really wanted to go to his house, because I was planning on just going home and getting everything over and done with. If I spent time with Mica, then I would end up telling him everything, and he would end up talking me out of suicide. And I didn't want him to save me this time. I just wanted to die.

But I nodded to him anyway, unsure of whether I had made the correct decision or not, and he smiled at me. Oh, well. I decided that if I died tonight, I would never see Mica again, so it would be nice to spend my last few hours in this world with the person that I loved the most. Then I wrote something else on the scrap of paper and gave it to him.

"Are we going to leave school in the same way that we did yesterday?" I had written.

Mica nodded to me and stuffed the note into his pocket, and I mouthed 'okay' to him. Then the teacher opened a file with some equations on it and projected it onto the whiteboard, and the lesson began.

When it was finally the end of the lesson, school was finally over for the day. Mica and I waited until everyone else had gone, then we walked to his house together.
