Second chance

Jess and Josh were at the door to their house, along with Matt who was parking his car around the corner.
Jess reached into her pocket to grab her key, while Josh just sat in his wheel chair in silence. Jess got her key and put it in the key hole twisting it as she did.She then slowly opened the door and turned back to Josh, it had been nothing but silence since they got out of the hospital "You know sitting there feeling sorry for yourself isn't going to help" Jess said suddenly.
Josh continued to look forward as he started to push the wheels on his chair forward. Jess then pushed down on the back of the chair to help him get over the step at the door. She then pushed him inside the house. They slowly made their way to the front room, Josh made his way to were he normal sat. He spun himself round and looked around as if he had never been here before.
The door opened again and someone walked in. It was Matt.
"Jess can we talk upstairs a second" He asked her.
"Yeah sure" She replied to him slowly walking to the remote on the sofa. She took the remote and put it on Josh's lap.
"Put something on will ya I'll be back down in a second" She said with a smile.
"Alright" Josh replied trying to put on a smile.
Matt and Jess made their way upstairs quickly leaving Josh alone. He picked up the remote and turned on the TV, he then stared to flick through the channels.
Jess and Matt were upstairs in her room.
"So what happened" Matt asked her.
"He's going to be OK just..." She paused and then said "His legs are damaged"
"Oh" he looked at her "I was hoping the chair was temporary"
"No, he's lost his legs completely, well not like gone just not working" She said her smile slowly going away.
They looked at each other for a minute, Matt leaned forward and warped his arms around her "He's going to be OK, Josh is hard nut to crack"
She reposed to the hug and did the same "I know but he's lost all hope, he's not the same anymore"
They both heard a knock at the door and let go of each other "I'll get it" Jess said to him.Matt nodded and they both made there way back down stairs. Matt went and sat next to Josh who was watching TV, while Jess went to the door.
She looked through the glass and looked at the man on the other side. She put her hand on the handle of the door and slowly pulled it open "Hello?" She said to the man.
The man reposed "Hello, are you Jess Smith?"
Jess paused for a second and looked at him "Yes I am, why?"
"Your brother is Josh Smith yes?" He asked calmly.
"What do you want?" She spoke up suddenly.
"Well i was wondering if you could hand him this?" He slowly handed Jess a small envelop.
She took it off him and looked at it "What is it?" She asked.
"Just give it to him and make sure he reads it" He said as he turned to walk away.
"W-wait who should I say it's from?" She quickly asked.
The man did not answer he just walked away. Jess looked at the letter for a minute before going back closing the door. She turned and walked back into the front room. She walked to Josh and put the letter in his lap. "That's for you" She told him.
He picked it up "Who from?" he asked.
Jess just gave him a blank look. Josh took this as she didn't know and started to open the enveloper.
"Should i read it out loud to you guys" He looked at them holding a folded note in his hand.
They both nodded and Josh slowly unfolded it.
He then started to read the note to them "Dear Joshua Smith...I am here to offer you a second chance, I am part of new army which has near to unlimited funding and technology beyond anything other. But over all i may making you a deal, I can give you a second chance, you can have a new set of legs, which will be mechanical of coarse, but they will be free" Josh looked up at them wondering if they had any idea what this meant.
"That it" Matt asked.
"No" josh continued "However if you want them free there is a catch, you will have to join this new army and become the new generation troop however if you don't the operation will cost you but it's up to you. You may not even want the offer but my numbers at the bottom call me if you want to take any of the offers."
They all looked from one another full of questions.
Jess then spoke "Well Josh I don't mind what you do if I'm honest, but i will never be able to pay for something like that"
"I know, I know I'll think about it I mean it can't be that bad can it" Josh reached for his phone.
"Josh don't rush about this" Matt suddenly said.
"Matt please let me do this and you Jess, this could be a chance for me" Josh looked at them with his phone in his hand. He unlocked it and looked the number at the bottom. He paused and then slowly put the number in his phone. He then called the number and with in seconds it was picked up.
"Hello" The voice on the phone said.
"Hello" Josh replied looking at the name on the letter.
"Ahh Josh i was hoping you'd get to me soon, so you read the letter yes?" The man of the phone said to him.
"Yes i have, and Mr Wilson" there was a pause of a minute "I am in"
"That's great, I'll get someone to pick you up soon be ready" Mr Wilson told him.
Josh hung up and looked at Jess and Matt. Was this his second chance?
