Phoenix Isle

My great, great, great grandfather had started telling it to his kids and it became a tradition to tell as a bed time story. I wanted to keep it as original as possible so that whoever reads it would be reading an authentic piece of my history. I really hope that you enjoy reading this story.

Phoenix Isle
Chapter 2.

Exploration of Phoenix Isle

Once on the Island, the crew split up to make the search of the Island faster.  They were to meet back at the boat site at dusk.  Martin and Adam scanned the beach all the way around the Island, John and Dylan searched the forest area, and Cyrus searched the center of the Island and it's lake.  After a few hours, Cyrus had found that the Island had some things that stood out to him.  Things such as inscriptions with weird symbols and pictorial descriptions.  He also found that he could not identify many of the creatures there.
Near dusk, everyone gathered back to where the boat was.  However, Chris was no longer accounted for.  Everyone went searching for him together as a group, but couldn't find him. In fact, the search only ended up damaging the group more.  Adam ended up getting bit by a creature that looked like a bird with butterfly wings.  He died within minutes of the bite.  John was eaten by a giant plant that seemed to be able to camouflage itself.  The rest of them turned back to the boat after a pant had eaten John, they didn't want to risk their own lives in the slight chance of finding Chris.
They got on the empty boat and sailed away from the Island.  They sailed for 3 weeks.  In those 3 weeks, Martin got really sick and he died from it.  Once they got home they told their families everything about their trip except for the Island.
