Chapter 11.

Second Chances

"Dad...?" Was all Lotil could say, she stood there staring at Regimen who's nervous smile still remains the hybrid gave him a look.

Regimen got anxious "You've changed I see. What happened to your left wing?" He asked.

"That's none of you're concern. What are you doing here?" She finally managed to ask crossing her arms.

Regimen looked at his daughter sympathetically "Okay look, I know back at the time when you're mother had passed and I uh -" the orange lizard was cut off.

"Blamed me for the cause of it? Yes, why? Have you come to hear the real truth of what actually happened or are you expecting me to apologise for a death I didn't cause?" The hybrid was very frustrated and angry at her father.

The lizard sighed lowering his head "The first thing actually. I've been thinking and regretting what I had said to you that day Lotil. I should have listened to you and most of all not have been so harsh to you, I'm so sorry I really am if there's anyway I could make it up to you" his eyes gazed at hers begging for forgiveness.

Lotil thought for a moment gazing at him Should I really forgive the Monster who hurt me with those words he had said to me that day? Blaming me for my mother's death? She let her eyes face his too find true forgiveness and sadness in them her face softening.
Well maybe he never meant any of it. He was just to broken when his wife and best friend had died anyone would say things they don't mean usually over the more simple things. I guess I should give him another chance, he is my only father after all.

Lotil softly smiled lending her hand out to her father surprising him "I've been thinking and I know you probably didn't mean any of those remarks. I should be able to understand but I didn't and I'm sorry for running away, I'll forgive you if you forgive me."

Regimen took his daughter hand kindly smiling back "I'm glad you do understand, thank you and yes Tilly I forgive you."

Lotil still smiling was pulled into a hug by her father hugging him back father and daughter were once again together. Pulling from the hug, the hybrid let her dad inside for some warm cup of tea both sitting down in a chair comfortably.

Regimen took a sip of the tea and looked at his daughter "Since we've moved on from the before subject. Tell me, how you lost your wing? In addition getting those scars."

Lotil crossed her legs "Well the scars are from my new friend and rival Hickory she is a hyena cat who's claws have burning acid at the tips anything she hits with those claws will feel a burning heat on their skin that lasts for days but I pulled through but got permanent scars from the acid.
As for the wing, it was blasted off by the Queen of Mewni  when I tried killing her to avenge the death of my mother but it was too risky so I fled" she explained as much she could leaving out the details.

Her father was silent for a bit "So a lot has happened in you're life since you've left. That's nice that you tried taking on Queen Moon but also not very smart your lucky you didn't get killed."

The hybrid nodded "Yeah I almost died from the wound which at a pace was slowly healing but the blood didn't stop dropping and it stung really bad whenever I moved. I planned to return home to retrieve bandages for it but I came across a castle instead and went there instead, I did sneak in but I was caught."

"Caught? By who?" The lizard asked.

"It doesn't matter. I'll just say he was a very caring Monster who helped me feel comfortable staying at his place until I felt better, he in a way understood me" Lotil looked down at her lap slightly smiling "Me and him could have been something but his plans were a big plot for him to chase after. I know he likes me in a way and if that explosion didn't happen he'd still be...alive. I guess life can be like that."

Regimen blinked for a moment dumbfounded "So you're telling me you were with a boy for the rest of the week who than assumingly died in an explosion?" He question her "Don't Tell me your pregnant."

Lotil turned red thrown back at her father's words "What!? No! No! Never no! Dad why would you even think that??? Ugh no not at all, no just no."

Regimen laughed "I'm kidding. I know you would never get involved with such interactions. But if this guy you speak of is alive and he comes back for you I'd like to have a long conversation with him" he sounded serious.

Lotil nodded understanding "Yeah I know. But I'm just not sure he's even alive, I trust him I really do but his plan was just so dangerous I'm unsure what to believe anymore. I'm worried."

"Hey, don't worry. If he miraculously survived that explosion chances are he might be out there, for now just relax." Regimen reassured her.

Lotil smiled "Your right. I shouldn't get so overwhelmed about it, let's continue on our bonding chats."

Relaxing herself down, the hybrid and her father continued their conversation about childhood memories or funny moments in that happened once before had they been unaware of watchful eye on them.
A grey lizard sat alone in a now crumpled up Monster Temple being abandoned for years, his hair was a mess, he wore only a white button up shirt with sleeves that take up half his upper arms, black jeans, and fancy black shoe wear. His right half of the arm was only bone his skin had been burnt off after the explosion that day at the castle remembering the sadness in Lotil's eyes before she escaped, Toffee had half a wand shard on that boned hand of his using the all seeing eye spell to spy on the hybrid.
Sighing he dismissed the spell heartache in his yellow eyes, he stared at his wand hand clutching it. The lizard, stood up looking past the mountain peaks he could see the Butterfly Castle in the distant, cast a cold glare over at it before turning his back away and disappearing into the still standing remains of the temple in silence.
