Charleston almost makes me faint

Everyone thinks that they're something...well, special. But mostly they're a bunch of idiots.
Wait...let me start over.

Most people are normal. They go through their normal, boring lives doing normal, boring things. And never getting chased by bloodthirsty monsters even once. But if you're a demigod...let's just say that your chance of living until adulthood is about 15%. If you're lucky.
I was 14 when it happened. And I had never met a single monster, which is amazing for a demigod. It happened like this;

I was busy living my boringly normal life when the phone rang, which isn't very strange in itself.
                 Except it was 12:00 midnight.
                 ' Weird', I thought.
But I got up and went to the phone. It said, 'Unknown name, Unknown number.'
                  Ooo-kaaay.
I picked it up.
                 "Um, Hello?"
Is this what happens to people before they get murdered?
                  "Hello, Ella? This is Charlie's mom. Charleston came back."
My best friend Charleston (who everyone calls Charlie) had gone missing a couple months before. I wasn't really worried. Charlie knew how to shoot a bow. Or a crossbow, for that matter. So she was probably fine.
But I had never expected to see her again.
So when Charlie's Mom's car pulled up in front of my house, I got right in.
I didn't even pack. I just pulled on jeans and an old t-shirt and left a note to my parents.
We drove in complete and total silence for about 5 minutes. I think Charlie's mom might have been crying.
Awkward!
We picked up my friends, Khanna and Riley. They bombarded me with questions, but I didn't have any answers. Soon it was silent again.
We pulled up in front of a train station. Standing there, waiting for us, were Charlie, Some Mexican dude, and a girl with blond hair and strange, stormy gray eyes.
Charleston was carrying a bow. She and the Mexican dude were holding hands.
Very Weird, I thought.
The blond girl whispered something to Charlie. her eyes widened.
"You're demigods." she said. "Welcome to the club."
That's when the world went black.
And.... then normal again.
Whew. I almost fainted there.
