The Arrival
I look up at the top of the building. There stands the symbol of my new school. A golden shield with the letters 'M H' at either side."So," I mutter to myself. "This must be Mobius High."
I was very nervous about my first day. Everyone here is an animal, and I am about to become the very first human to ever walk its halls. I have a feeling people will stare at me as if I don't belong here. But this is for my own good. There's no turning back.
If I want to remain unharmed, I have no choice.
With my staff in my right hand, I walk up the steps into the school.
It's so beautiful inside. The glistening hallways, the sight of kindness and friendship...
I love it here already!
My first lesson is with this teacher who they call Miss Rose. I've never had so many butterflies in my stomach before. Especially since people are glaring at me.
I then feel someone's hand on my throat as he pins me against a wall. "You don't belong here, you puny human!"
"Let me go, please," I beg.
The others start chanting with him, pointing at me. "Human! Human! Puny little human!"
"Let her go!" I hear a voice booming in the hallway. The person who has me by my throat lets go, as I fall on my hands and knees on the floor. I am gasping for breath. He really strangled me tight.
"Are you alright?" the voice says. I look up and see a blue hedgehog. He offers me his hand and helps me stand up again.
He then turns to the person who strangled me. "Next time, think before you try kill someone." His arm is wrapped around my back as we walk away.
I look up to him. "Thank you. For helping me back there."
"Don't mention it," he says. "You're the new transfer student aren't you?"
"Yes," I reply. "And I take it people hate me already."
"I seen them take others before," he tells me. "So you're not the first."
I can't help but grin as I say, "And I won't be the last, that's for sure."
I shake his hand, smiling. "I'm Hayley. Hayley Suntora."
"Nice to meet you Hayley."
The first bell rings. "Damn it I'm gonna be late!" I clutch my staff tightly in my right hand and run as fast as I can to my first class.

Thankfully I'm not late to my class. A pink hedgehog wearing a red dress waits outside.
"You must be Hayley," she says when she sees me. She offers her hand out to me, like Sonic did. "I'm Miss Rose. Pleasure to meet you."
"It's nice to meet you too," I reply, shaking her hand.
She looks at my staff. "Nice weapon. What does it do?"
"A lot of things," I say. "Wanna see?"
"Sure."
I look to see a broken locker across from us, so I close my eyes, pointing my staff towards it. I can feel the energy surging inside of it.
It's working!
The surge ends, and I open my eyes. The locker is as good as new.
"That was amazing," Miss Rose says.
"And that's only ONE of the many powers it can do," I reply.
"Why don't you come inside? I'm sure the others would love to meet you." She puts her hand on my shoulder as we walk into the classroom.
"Quiet down everyone," she says. The other students obediently stop their chatting and the whole room is in silence.
"I want you all to meet our newest student, Hayley Suntora. She is a transfer student from Primwood School for Talented Mages."
I smile at my new classmates and wave. "Hi," I say shyly.
"Hayley, why don't you take a seat next to Kacey," Miss Rose says, pointing to an empty seat next to a girl I presume is Kacey.
So I take my seat, my staff leaning on the edge.
I really hope I fit in here.
