Only Project I'm Going to Like

My heart started racing at the sight of Lucas staring at me.  How could I not notice the amazing body he had?  He was fit.  His tight tee shirt showed off his flat stomach and toned arms.  

I realized I had been staring at him for a long period of time, so I turned my attention to my locker.  I grabbed my books, and as I closed my locker, it revealed a person.  A person with blonde hair, and blue eyes, and a breath taking smile.  (AKA Lucas).

"Hi," he said casually.

"Hello," I tucked my bangs behind my ear.

He looked at me, his forehead crinkling in confusion.  "I don't think I've seen you around here before," he said jokingly.

"Probably not, I'm new," I told him, playing along.

"I thought so.  Because for a second I thought you were Kasey, but then I remembered that Kasey would probably never wear a dress," Lucas licked his lips.

"Tell me more about this Kasey girl."

He sighed.  "She was pretty, had good grades, and she's also supposed to be my partner writing this paper for history."

My heart skipped a beat when he said 'pretty.'  

My heart completely stopped when I realized I had forgotten about the paper.

"Crap," I said, "When is that due?"

"We still have this week, and its due the Friday after that," he ran a hand through his hair.

"When should we work on it?"  I asked.

He thought for a moment, then all of a sudden he snapped his fingers.  "How about you come over to my house after school?  I have a laptop, we can start it then."

I thought for a moment.  What would Teresa say?

He noticed my hesitation.  "My mom and brother are going to be there.  And you can just ride home with me, and I can drop you off at your house afterward."

"Sounds great," I said faster than my brain could process.

"Cool," his face lit up.  "I'll meet you by your locker at the end of the day, okay?"

"Okay."  Was this going to be like a date?

The bell rung.

"I'll see you later, Kasey," Lucas gave me one last smile then headed towards the gym.

You know, I used to hate projects.  But this one, this one might be okay.
