Their encounter

Their encounter

One day, Medusa went to the temple of the goddess Athena. The goddess was renown for looking over her people and watching over her temple's sanctity. Athena had never had any consorts or lover and her priestesses were to remain virgins and chaste.

On advancing towards the great statue of the goddess, Medusa felt how the place was unusually silent. Then a light breeze with the salty smell of the sea flowed through her hair locks and she heard footsteps. As she turned to face the huge entrance door she was face to face with the god of the sea, Poseidon!

Although she was not well acquainted with him, she instantly recognized him because they were relatives linked by the primordial gods and the Titans. Medusa knew Poseidon's arrival inspired nothing good and she had heard how this god is known for his flirtatious manner or desire for women and he had lovers of both sexes even though already married to nymph Amphitrite.

Now Medusa was feeling unsafe and when Poseidon lay his gaze on her she felt as if he could see beyond her white silk dress...

i actually love medusa. once as results in a quiz i was said to be a gorgon :D and i got the idea to write the story of a gorgon.. ;)

yea i found it cruel of athena to do that too and i think poseidon should have been the one to be punished but i guess what makes the story interesting is medusa being the victim etc :)

i remember this legend. i saw this legend on wikipedia when i was researching athena. i think it was cruel of athena doing that but i think it was called for. it was cruel,but good 4 medusa.
