Chapter 2.

The great feast

Chapter 2                         The Great feast

That evening Felix did not eat much. He could not get the thought of the cloaked man and now a letter? There was some thing going on here. He needed to find out what. The feast went on for at least two hours. Cups rattled. Once the time passed the people of the tall brick palace got back to doing there jobs in the kingdom. Jack pushed out his chair and stood up.
- If you need me, I’ll be upstairs with Lisa. He told Felix. Jack quickly turned around and left the room. Behind him the doors shut. Felix looked around the huge room and saw that Rose was still with him in the room. Rose smiled and then turned her head around.

- I am so sorry! My father wants me! She said sadly and hugged Felix good bye. She then walked out the big bronze doors. Felix took a deep breath and stood up. He then left the dining room to go upstairs.  He walked slowly up to his room. Lisa was just leaving the room.
-Good night Felix! She said bowing. Felix waved and walked in the room.
That night Felix did not sleep, he laid awake in bed thinking of what the note said: Crown? Pride? Then all of a sudden the candle that he was using to light up his room went out and there was a huge gust of wind from his window. He went up to the window and noticed the wind had picked up and there it was! The cloaked figure! Standing right behind him. Felix saw this threw his mirror in the corner of his eye. He turned around quickly trying to get a better glimpse of the man but he vanished again! This figure was really getting on Felix’s last nerve. Who was it?
He stayed awake with fear in his heart. The night ticked by slowly, minute by minute second by second. It felt like time had frozen before him! These signs were trying to say something to him. But what? Not to joust tomorrow?  He laid in bed not being able to sleep. He tried and tried he worried the next day he would have enough energy to move. Finally he grabbed the glass of water on his night table took a drink and then laid back in his bed.
- The competitions tomorrow… I need sleep! He whispered over and over to him self. He walked over to the open window of the room and stared at the huge full moon that awaited him outside. He slowly crept over to the table and started reading the note that appeared on his bed earlier. He brought the splinter of paper back to his bed and laid there reading it over then over for the fifth time.
His eyes drifted into sleep.
