WAIT WAIT I REMEMBER THE ANSWER!!!! I was given this riddle a few months ago and I didn't get it.

THEY ALL HAVE SEQUENCES OF LETTERS IN THEM THAT ARE IN THE SAME ORDER AS IN THE ALPHABET!!!! 'ghi' in coughing.... 'rst' in thirsty... 'def' in defiant...

Ooh, ooh!! All have letters in them that sound like other letters? 'Coughing' has 'o' and 'u' that could be just 'o' making it 'coghing' and the 'gh' could be just 'ff' making it 'coffing'. And the 'i' in 'thirsty' could be a 'u' or an 'e' making it 'thursty' or 'thersty'. And the 'e' in 'defiant' could be an 'a' making it 'dafiant', and the 'a' in 'defiant' See More▼
