Should I get a tattoo when I'm older?

Should I get a tattoo when I'm older?

My mom doesn't approve and I always have my doubts but I just think tattoos are so cooool!!! I would only ever get one or two none of those massive sleeves or anything and I would seriously think it through and get it in a place where I could easily hide or show. Opinions?

just imagine yourself as an 80 year old women with a flaming skull on your wrist. :/ getting then removed is super expensive
creativegirl1
I didnt think you can remove them at all....

It wouldn't be a flaming skull X'D no no no and also when I'm 80 i'm not gonna care what I look like and also I'm going to get it in a place I can hide easily like my shoulder and I oubt I'll be wearing strapless things when I'm older. So when I get older is not the problem...

It depends on what your opinion of it is, you need to remember tattoos are permanent, and it could cause some problems when you get older

I don't think so- I honestly think tattoos are trashy.

No for these reasons,

1. A tatto lasts forever. If you want it removed, you will get a white patch where the tatto was.

2. God gave us our skin. Isn't it enough? If we paint our skin (getting a tatto), you will be doing a sin.

3. It affects the job you have. You could dream about doing something, but you can't do it because of your tatto.

4. Tattos are expensive. Are you really going to use a weekly pay to get a painting on your arm?

5. Design, design, design, what if your See More▼
Elleyd
Good points but just to rebuttal:
1. The permanency is one reason why it's so appealing. To have something that lasts forever and will go with you wherever you go seems pretty nice.
2. Not that religious and I don't think it's a sin to get a tattoo...
3. If you get the tattoo in the right place (i.e. back, shoulder, thigh) it is extremely easy to hide.
4. In See More▼

well... Not RUIN your life or body.. it just doesn't look nice in my opinion but if you HAD to get a smart one. Don't get your crushes or boyfriends name, because they might break up with you! Don't get things you might regret!

You cant hide a tattoo, if you get it on your back you'll wear a bikini and show it off. If on your arm, you wear short sleeves all the time, If on your neck you'll pin your hair up in a bun every once in a while.
Whats your reasoning for getting a tattoo and "Its pretty" isn't a good enough reason!

Just because your getting a small tattoo, you will regret it. It lowers job offerings and a lot of things! Don't get a tattoo until you have a true REASON to get one know that its See More▼
Elleyd
Ok, first off, you CAN, very easily in fact, hide a tattoo. Let's say I get one on my shoulder, I can hide it with sleeves without even thinking about it. Getting a tattoo would be interesting because it can inspire you or give you hope or have a special meaning. Most jobs that I'm interested in don't care. Also, I do have reasons for wanting a tattoo.

If it's a temporary tattoo, sure...whateve's ;)

Nah...

I personally wouldn't get one; I wouldn't want to get something I would have to keep the rest of my life. And anyways, I don't like permanent tattoo's in the first place. But that's just me.

Also, as I said before, you can never get rid of tattoos, so think carefully.
Elleyd
oh yea, I'd probably plan for weeks before actually getting one.

Maybe get one on your shoulder blade. I was planning on getting something small, like a Greek symbol or the dark mark, but it is up to you. As MockingjayDistrict said, some jobs won't hire you if you have a visiable tattoo. If you get one on your arm, some jobs have a long sleeved uniform option. This is like gauges and piercings. They are acceptable at most jobs, but once gauges get to large, or piercings become too many, you have to stop.
Elleyd
I know and I was planning lower back, upper back, or back of shoulder so places I could hide REALLY easily

It would look weird if you wear a sleeveless dress and plus some jobs won't hire you if you have a tattoo. Even Starbucks won't hire you if you have one that will show while wearing the work uniform. So I say no, but it is competently up to you.

You're welcome!

I do a LOT of tattoo designs on myself and my friends. I get really bored. -_- what kind of thing were you thinking of? Idk, some people will judge you for it. Be very careful where and what it is.

I was thinking biomechanical or something that interacts with the skin OR a quote or something inspirational

I don't see why not, but you'll have to decide very carefully what it'll be. Also if you can stand needles, for eg my mum wants a tattoo but she's too scared of pain and needles...
creativegirl1
Also (if you do get one) make sure it's in a reliable place

I suggest you don't. It would be cool, but would you want it forever and ever? Do you want it when you're an old person? Here's my suggestion: there spare some special temporary tattoos that look real, and last for months. You can always keep buying the same one. Plz don't get a permanent tattoo!
kopperslushi
Think about it this way. Maybe right now you don't care about having it when you're old, but when you're old you will be thinking "why did I get this? In the past I didn't care, but now I do"
It's happened to me a lot but in other situations.
