Why Is Being Non Religious Such A Bad Thing.. When Every Day I'm Forced To Be?
I think the whole religious crap is really stupid because its against gays. And I don't give a crap who you are that isn't right! they should be able to love just as everyone else can! And That I always get comments and people tell me i'm going to hell.. that isn't right either. Has anyone actually seen "god" I THINK NOT. when no one believes in elves or fairies or whatever just because they're not real.. it's the same thing with god. i'm very skeptical. and if I'm going to be pushed into a religion i'd rather rot in hell... Anyone agree?

Ok, so, first off, not all religions do that. You're only talking about the radical Christians. Still though, you should respect their opinion. Don't hate on them and then expect them to treat you any better. Religion is not something that is bad within itself, what becomes bad is how people use it. Don't dismiss all religion based off a few radicals. I'm not a very religious person either but I respect all opinions. I choose to be a combination of Buddhist and Christian. I think, See More▼ you should open your horizons and think a little more openly. Yes, some religion isn't good but you shouldn't shun all religion with that thought. Try looking into a more relaxed version of Christianity or other religion if you're interested. I'm pro-choice and I'm half-Methodist. However, not being religious, or being atheist, isn't bad either. It's all just a matter of opinion.

Yeah, my life kinda gets mixed up between the different branches of christianity. I was baptised as a lutheran but my dad is catholic so I did grow up with both bibles.

@Marvele I'm evangelic, maybe you're catholic? Though the only difference between the two bibles is that one has the New Testament and the other doesn't. Or maybe your mom just thinks this way: "only good people can go to heaven, as long as that good person has faith." Not much of a difference.

Could you explain it a bit further. I'm not entirely sure, because in the version of the bible my mom taught me, it says that like the override key is being a good person. I don't know though.

@Marvele Nope, the main key for heaven is faith in God. Everything else is like after-effects. A person who believes in God, also believes in his rules, so he'd (or she'd) want to actually listen to them, I think. There's no reason not to... don't kill people; be nice to others; forgive 'em... it's all the basic stuff.

Sorry, slip up there. But wouldn't that mean anyone who doesn't go to heaven just go to purgatory? Also, the bible contradicts itself there since if a person is utterly benevolent and doesn't believe in God, they would both have to go to heaven but not be allowed to.

I am a Christian (Anglican) and I'm a bit taken back at this. But I believe that being non-religious is fine as long as you don't think being religious is a bad thing. If people start to pick on you because if being non-religious then you can start to tell them your beliefs (about it not being clear and what-not) because you are allowed free thought. All religions were created to explain things and help us connect and just make things more understandable (I have to say that I See More▼ don't know much about this but I have some points that I am confident in). So it is fine for you to be non-religious, but keep any negative thoughts to yourself and others should too.
And I just noticed that you talked about how religions are against gays. Quite frankly, I am not, and there are many Christians who aren't either. If you believe that all of Christians are against gays and hate people who don't agree with them, then I'll just say that all atheists are stupid pessimists.

It sounds like you haven't been around real Christians who believe God created everyone equal and everyone should be loved despite of sins of mistakes they might make. No one has seen God or heaven or hell or even Lucifer (Satan) but you can hear him and feel his presence at times. God is not against gays but he is against the sin they are committing but it can always be forgiven. I'm athiest, at first I believed in God, but this world is so messed up and life is so unfair and everything got really bad.. so I became athiest. I'm currently studying sociology and philosophy of space and time, and as a side project, I made a diagram on proof why God most likely doesn't exist based on my studies of people and space and time and the universe.
God and the Devil are part of the same religion, often called differently, but are still both independant deities, so See More▼ basically, if we prove one doesn't exist, the other doesn't. So I, Zoe Jellybeans (ha), have decided to try to prove this. I feel like posting some of my project so yeah.
God didnt write the bible. The Roman Emperor, Constatine, produced the bible. He simply took the Jewish religion, and organized it into Christianity, and then into the Holy Roman Catholic church. Jewish and Christian beliefs are mostly italian. The human brain despises not knowing things, so they automatically accept and worship these deities to suply comfort of the unknown. Just felt like posting this. :) Hope ya'll liked it. I'm not trying to convert anyone or anything... just stating the facts lol.

I am religious but not much, it doesn't mean your going to hell if you don't believe, that's your choice, I don't understand why people think that, it's just reassuring knowing there's a life after death, but if you don't believe in that, that's fine.

Being christian is not against gays, me and my friends are christians and support gay people. Most of my fave youtubers are gay and i don't unfollow them because they're gay. So please don't hate on christians, because some of us believe in gay rights.

You have absolutely no idea how much I agree with you. I am a committed Atheist and have been my entire life. Every word you said there is true, but I do respect religious people, except the ones who hate Gays, I think that is ridiculous. I have written long essays stating my opinion on why I do not believe in God, and I would be here forever listing them. I do have respect for people who have respect for me, and are rational to some extent, like accepting different sexualities. Well I'm a Christian an no one no matter how powerful, including God can force you. One reason I believe in him is because before I was born, the doctor said I was going to die and I wouldn't make it. But when my parents prayed for me, under the their christian God, and I was born. That's why I believe in God, that's why I'm a strong person. And that's why nothing, not even passing away of my friends could deter me or change the way I think about God.
