Why is the sky blue?

The sky appears blue to us on a clear day, because the atoms of nitrogen and oxygen in the atmosphere separate the suns white light into its many colors, and scatter them throughout the atmosphere.

Because blue is the first color of "white light" to reach the sky. That is why you see other colors at sunset.

It's because of the way our atmosfear is, we see blue, when it's actually black.

Ok first of all we have an atmosphere. The sky is suppose to be gray. It reflects off of space causing it to be darker. Like if something that is transparent you can see through it. The sun makes the sky a bit lighter to be blue. And that's my hypothesis.

because in the beginning everything was water.so god only cleared have of the water. When its dark the water is still blue but u just cant see it.:-B

It's an illusion. if you look at the earth from space (or low quality pics Nasa gives us) you see that the earth sort of reflects which makes a small blue aurora, and it gives the sky color. When the sun goes down (well actually when the earth spins) the earth can't reflect this light so the aurora goes away and you see space (which is night)

Its blue because its holding water, water drifts into the sky when its hot just like when its cold its kind of clear or whitish.
