What are your thoughts on the saying "Blood is thicker than water"?

I honestly dislike this phrase,it's just misleading

"Blood is thicker than water" is indeed misleading, because family ties can be strong for some people and very weak for others. Some people hate their family and never want to talk to them, and their friends are their family. So the original phrase, "blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb", is easier to understand.

“The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb." Is the full phrase, originally meaning solders are closer than simple genetics.
The phrase now, "blood is thicker than water" can be misleading. They both are.
But can both be true, though.

Haha, I didn't know what this meant until I read the other comments. I was referring to the fact that blood is technically denser than water. XD
