Mysterious Man

While in my slightly sane state I felt pressure relieve off my chest with every tear that fell.

'I don't want to be the way I am...I'm scared and I want to cuddle...I want to hug it away...I want to be happy...'

I fell to my knees on the ground then leaned against a tree, hugging my knees as I cried...wept rather.

Then I had heard a slight gasp from an unknown figure.

I didn't bother look up, I just wanted to be alone.

Although...I wanted to be comforted...

"Why are you crying," I heard a deep voice ask.

I shook my head as I kept my face in my knees.

"You look about 13...what's a kid like you doing out this late alone in the woods," he asked.

Again, I shook my head.

"Are you...13," he asked yet again.

I shook my head once more, "if I tell you...you'll tell them."

"Tell who," he asked coming closer to me.

I quickly stood and pinned him against the tree with a knife up to his jugular vein, "does this answer your question?"

He chuckled, "you're pretty for a 13 year old."

"I'm not 13...I'm 17," I said bluntly not moving the knife, "and I'm surprised you haven't heard of me...if you were a victim then you'd be dead by now."

"Then why aren't I being killed," he asked with a smirk.

"I just finished my rounds...in other words, believe it or not, I'm exhausted physically and emotionally," I said rolling my eyes.

He chuckled, "what's your name?"

I then moved my knife and just leaned against the other side of the tree, "Scarlet... you?"

"That, my friend, is a secret," he said chuckling.

I didn't really look at his features...mostly because we were under the moon shadowed tree.

"That song...Mad World from Gary Jules right," he asked staring out.

"Yeah," I replied plainly.

"Ah...you're good at it," he said as I heard footsteps walk past me and into the darker shade of black in the forest, "see ya 'round Scarlet."

"Mmhmm," was all I replied as I stared out at the moon once more.

'Don't get close to anyone or you'll get hurt again...just like last time...'
