Susan and the heart
Susan was everyday, average. She was average in looks, in brains and in wit. She had just gotten out of high school and she wasn't sure what to do with herself. She was a dull girl, a boring girl with no real career aspirations. She was fairly nice, but again plain. Her only real talent was her voice. She had been born with a beautiful voice. She never got to use her voice because she was far too shy. Susan was just, normal. That made her unique. Her only real plans for the future were to marry her one true love, Rick. They had been together for three years and he put a spark in her. Otherwise, she thought, she was lifeless. She planned on marrying him as soon as possible. Today she was going to go to a fancy restaurant with him. He was going to pick her up in, well he was already supposed to be at her house. She wondered where he could be. Buzz. She had a text from what could only be Rick. No one else would text her. Her mother and father were dead and she now lived alone in an apartment. Buzz. She read the text. " Hey. Hi Susan. I'm not picking you up sorry." Another text. " Look Susie, you're so great and I love you but it's just not working out." Another text. " I met this girl, Brit, and she's perfect for me." One last text. " Sorry. Guess we just weren't meant to be." Susan stared at the screen. She couldn't believe it. She really couldn't believe it. Her one true love was gone, her only plan was over." Excuse me" she said to no one. " I have to...to...go."
She ran into her bathroom. She was about to throw up. She knew why he had left her! She just wasn't interesting enough. She had no life outside of him. She wore her heart on her sleeve. She had to prove him wrong. She had to change. She took a bottle a black liquid eyeliner and scratched a heart onto her pale cheek. She was no longer Susan. She was the girl she always fantasized about being. Electra Heart.
