Chapter 3.

Having Fun with Friends

When it was lunchtime, Maraya and Ms. Carolyn were looking around the city for a place to eat. "Where should we go to eat, Maraya?"

"I don't know," answered Maraya. "Where do you think we should go?"

Ms. Carolyn sniffed. "I know. Let's go eat some pizza for lunch."

Maraya agreed with Ms. Carolyn's idea. "Great idea, Ms. Carolyn." But when they were about to go in, Maraya saw her friends walk by.

"Hi, Maraya," her best friends greeted.

Maraya let go of Ms. Carolyn's hand so she can run over to her friends. "Hi, everyone!"

"What are you doing?" asked Carmen, one of Maraya's friends with Apert syndrome.

"We were about to go in this restaurant to eat some lunch," Maraya answered.

"Oooh," she said.

"Would you like to join us for some pizza and ice cream for lunch?" Ms. Carolyn asked Carmen.

"Sure, that would be nice," she replied.

"Then come on," Ms. Carolyn continued. "Follow us."

All of Maraya's friends followed her and Maraya in to the restaurant. When they got in the restaurant, a waitress said to Ms. Carolyn, "Hello. What can I get for you today?"

"I would like a large pizza for the four of us, please," Ms. Carolyn ordered to the waitress.

"Okay, one large pizza, coming right up," the waitress told her.

After the waitress walked away from Ms. Carolyn and the seven friends, they all had to wait a few minutes for the pizzas to be served to their tables. When the pizzas were served, the waitress let them enjoy their pizzas together.

"This pizza is good," Maraya remarked.

"Yes, it is," admitted Ms. Carolyn.

They enjoyed their pizza together until they were done and have run out.

"That was good," said Ms. Carolyn.

"Yeah," replied Novalee. "I could just eat pizza all day."

"Me, too," Erin added.

When the waitress came back to collect the plate that had the pizza on it, she asked Ms. Carolyn another question. "Is there anything else I can get for you?"

"Yes," Ms. Carolyn answered the waitress. "Can I get two banana splits, please?"

"Sure," the waitress replied. "Two banana splits, coming right up."

Then the waitress walked away again to make two banana splits. When the banana splits were served, two people from each side and table eat the banana split together. From the first table, Maraya and Ms. Carolyn split one, and Erin and Novalee split the other. From the other table, Carmen and Jess split their dessert while Anie and Ashley split theirs. They all thought they were delicious.

After lunch and dessert, they all thought about what they can do next. "What should we do now?" Ms. Carolyn asked everyone.

"I know, let's go see a movie," Maraya answered.

"Yeah. I heard the movie "Turn the Lights Off" was a good movie," Ashley suggested the group.

"Eeek!" Maraya shrieked.

"Too scary," Ms. Carolyn commented.

"I don't like scary movies," Erin told Ashley.

But Carmen had a better suggestion. "How about if we can see a fantasy movie?"

"Yeah," Novalee agreed with Carmen's idea. "I heard the movie "The Little Magical Unicorn" was amazing."

"Blech, too girly," Anie replied, being disgusted.

"Okay, so "Turn the Lights Off" is too scary and "The Little Magical Unicorn" is too girly," Maraya thought out loud. "So what kind of movie can we see?"

"It has to be a kind of movie that everyone would like to see," Ms. Carolyn told her.

Suddenly, Maraya was thinking about it until Erin got an idea. "How about it we can see a comedy movie? I heard that the movie "Have a Laugh" is very funny."

"Yeah," Maraya agreed with Erin's idea.

"A comedy movie. That's perfect!" exclaimed Ms. Carolyn.

"Well, okay, let's go see a comedy movie," Carmen told the group. "To the movie theater."

When they all got in to the movie theater, a woman at the ticket booth asked, "How many tickets?"

"One adult and seven children, please," Ms. Carolyn told the woman.

"Okay, that'll be $18.00, please," said the woman.

Ms. Carolyn gave the woman $18.00 and then they all went to the concession stand to get their food and drinks. At the concession stand, Ms. Carolyn ordered four large popcorns and nine drinks. After they got their food and drinks, they went to the room that led to the "Have a Laugh" movie and sat down together.

"Looks like we've made it just in time," Ms. Carolyn told the group. "Look, the movie is about to start!"

After the movie was over, they walked out of the movie theater and talked about how good the movie was. "That was a very funny movie," Erin began.

"Yeah," said Novalee. "I like that part when the man fell off the bed."

"Me, too," Erin commented. Then she asked Maraya a question. "What was your favorite part of the movie, Maraya?"

"I liked all of it," Maraya answered. "It was a good idea to take us to that comedy movie."

"Yeah, I guess you're right," Erin told her. "Because we're best friends, right?"

"Right," she replied.

"Maraya, I thought you were my best friend," Ms. Carolyn told her.

"Of course I'm still your best friend, Ms. Carolyn," Maraya admitted. "Everyone's my best friend."

"Aw, that's nice, Maraya," she continued. "By the way, what should we do now?"

"How about if we can go bowling?" Jess suggested.

"Great idea, Jessica," Ms. Carolyn remarked. "Come on, let's go!"

While they were walking to the bowling alley together, Maraya and Ms. Carolyn started singing their special song together again.

"Wow, what a great song," Novalee complimented.

"Ms. Carolyn made it up," Maraya told her. "Right, Ms. Carolyn?"

"Yep," she answers her.

"You're great at making up songs, Ms. Carolyn," complimented Carmen.

"Thank you," she replied.

When they got in the bowling alley, a lady asks Ms. Carolyn, "How can I help you?"

"We need two empty bowling lanes," Ms. Carolyn answered the lady.

The lady told her that there were two empty bowling lanes: lanes 5 and 6. Then, she gave the group bowling shoes. Next, the group went to the empty lanes to put on their bowling shoes and get their names set up on the computer. Once they were set up, they started to bowl their first game.

First, it was Ms. Carolyn. Ms. Carolyn felt unsure about knocking down all the bowling pins at first, but she stayed calm the next minute and bowled her first turn. Ms. Carolyn was hoping that she would knock down all of the bowling pins, or some of them at least. While she was hoping for the best really hard, Ms. Carolyn suddenly heard all the bowling pins being knocked down as she got surprised. "Oh, my goodness! I can't believe that I knocked all the bowling pins down!"

The other four people, Maraya, Erin, Novalee, and Anie, applauded for Ms. Carolyn when she got a strike. "Great job, Ms. Carolyn!" Maraya exclaimed.

"Go, Ms. Carolyn!" cheered Novalee.

"Yay!" Erin encouraged her.

"Thank you, girls," Ms. Carolyn replied.

Then after Ms. Carolyn's turn, it was Maraya's turn.

Then Erin's.

Then Novalee's.

And after Novalee went, it was Anie's turn.

Once everyone went the first time, they did it again in the same order. Next, they played some arcade games together while sharing 25 tokens. After that, they chose some prizes depending on how many tickets they've won. Lastly, they play glow in the dark mini golf and then get their way out of the arcade to do something else.

"That was fun," Erin said. "What should we do now?"

"I know, let's go to the mall," Novalee told everyone.

"That's a great idea, Novalee," Maraya remarked.

"Yeah, what a wonderful idea, Novalee," Ms. Carolyn replied. "Let's go."

After they got out of the mall, the group thought about what they can do next. "That was fun, Ms. Carolyn. What can we do now?" questioned Ashley.

"Hmmm," thought Ms. Carolyn as she was looking around. "It's a bit late, Ashley. How about if we can go out for dinner?"

"Okay," Ashley continued. "Where should we go to eat for dinner?"

"I don't know. Where do you want to go eat, Ashley?" asked Ms. Carolyn.

"How about the Golden Corral?" Ashley suggested her.

"All right," Ms. Carolyn told her. "Then let's go there."

When they got there, they got their drinks and then found a table. After they found a table, they moved another little table from the dining area and moved it to where the bigger table was. Once they did that, they started to go to the buffet to get dinner and dessert and started to eat together afterward at their group table.
