The Sound of Revenge

Friday

I walked down the hallway to my locker. I had just arrived at school. Thankfully no one was there except one of the girls from my group, Laura. She was sitting against the wall on her phone.
"Hey Laura" I said looking down at her.
"Hey" she said not looking up from her phone.
"What ya doing?" I asked.
"Talking to Gabe." Gabe was a guy she had met on the weekend.
"Can I tell you something? You have to promise not to tell anyone" said Laura, looking up at me anxiously.
"Sure, anything" I said.
"I'm pregnant."
Pregnant? Laura was pregnant?
This was big news to me. Why had she even told me? I wasn't her best friend. I didn't even think she saw me as a friend at all. So why would she tell me that she was pregnant?

I was so confused, but I sat beside her hoping that if Jarrod saw me with someone who could possibly stand up for me that he would go away.

I don't know whether he would've gone away. I never would know, because Laura stood up and vomited all over the floor. Luckily I moved away just in time to avoid the spray. I've always hated vomit. It's just gross! But obviously Laura couldn't help it so I helped her to the bathroom and did my best to clean up the hall.

I never would know if Jarrod would have beaten me up or done something worse either, because later that day I found out that he was in hospital. He had been hurt riding to school on his bike this morning. It couldn't be more perfect, not that I was trying to be mean, but the whole situation for me was absolutely perfect, well apart from the whole Laura's baby situation.
Rumours were spreading fast. She must have told someone other then me because pretty soon the whole school knew. It was interesting how different their interpretations were. Some said that she had got pregnant with a senior, some said that the guy had got her drunk, some said that she had been trying for a baby to get out of school (that one was particularly ridiculous).
I couldn't wait to find out what was really happening. All these rumours were annoying me. Spreading like wild fire over the school. I guess I would have to wait to find out which one was true, but I knew of one guy who would almost certainly be correct.
