Star Wars Unexpected Lovers: Maul and Kiara

Jedi Council

Obi-Wan's POV:

       I rode up the elevator towards the Jedi Council chambers. I had become a member of the council sometime after Qui-Gon had passed away and I became a Jedi Knight. As I rode up there, I couldn't help but still be in disbelief that Maul had helped him and Kiara get out of there alive. He....of all Sith...was the most merciless he had ever seen...and yet...was there a soft spot in the Sith Lord....where there is possible light shining in the darkness that he contained...No, it's not possible. Maul is too deep within the dark side to ever harbor the light side of the Force.

   As I exited the elevator, I took a brief moment to look out the window that had the view of Coruscant. It was a beautiful view, but there is no time to gawk at the scenery of the city-planet. I entered the doorway of the council chambers and stood to behold the members. Mace Windu, Master Yoda, Shak-Ti, and others were there attending the meeting. "Good to see you it is Obi-Wan. Have a seat, you will." I took my place on one of the seats inside the room.

"Master Kenobi, you seem troubled....tell us what is bothering you?" Mace Windu ask in a respectable concern. It took me a moment to breath deeply and let out a sigh, "There happens to be....a Sith Lord in the midst of Coruscant....An old enemy I never thought would appear again." "Tell us who it is, you will," Master Yoda pressed further into questioning. "Darth Maul has appeared out of the shadows, apparently he survived the duel we had on Naboo. My sister Kiara met him on her way to work yesterday, and he apparently confronted me and her late last night." "Troubling this is.....Dead we thought him to be," Master Yoda said.

  "What happened late last night?" Master Windu asked. "While I was speaking to Kiara about her encounter with Maul, he appeared out of nowhere and threatened to kill me and her. We dueled...until that fire from last night broke out across our surrounding. There happened to be an explosion...of what I can't say....but it did separate the three of us...Then..." I paused for a moment. "Then what?" Master Windu said sternly. "He had somehow manage to find Kiara and after waking me up....He gave her to me and said that he would only save us this once....That is the part that is also troubling.....I thought of Maul to be a sinister killer...but there was something in him from last night that made him want to save the both of us....I don't know what else to say about it," I quieted down at the last sentence.

   "Interesting, I don't even think the Republic is aware there is a Sith Lord in their midst. Maul could pose a serious threat to the Senate and the Jedi themselves," Shak-Ti added. "Much to be discussed there is....But listen, Master Kenobi....Go after Maul, you will not...Rest is needed, and meditation in the Force," Master Yoda said. I paused for a moment...trying not to want to cause a scene of disobedience in front of the council members, so I bowed and said, "Farewell, Masters...I will take some time to rest."

   But was that ever the truth....no......Maul needs to be hunted down. The Council can get involved in protecting the Republic and Jedi for him...But Maul must be stopped. I will not let him hurt innocent people....nor my sister....I just hope she's okay....she means so much to me. I hopped on my speeder and headed over to the Republic medical center to visit Kiara. She had been seriously injured the night before.

Kiara's POV:

   I woke up to the sound of a heart monitor.....what happened? Where is Maul? Did Obi-Wan get hurt? There was a sharp pain in my abdominal and other areas of my body as I tried to sit up, but I could not. So, I laid back down on the medical bed. I noticed there were some burn marks on my body where an explosion/fire must have burnt some of my flesh.

  Just then, through my blurred vision, I saw a familiar auburn haired figure sitting next to me. "Obi-Wan, is that you?" I asked through a hoarse voice. The figure chuckled and said, "It is. How are  you feeling?" I gave a face that said 'Does it look like I'm feeling the greatest at the moment?' but I replied, "Sore...and...burnt to a crisp. What happened last night?" Obi-Wan paused a moment before answering, "I figured you wouldn't remember, the doctors said you had some amnesia....Well...last night while we were talking, Maul appeared and started to attack. He wanted to kill me and you..But there happened to be an unexpected explosion that rang out...and we were separated..." "How was I found?" I asked questioningly. "Maul apparently had saved both of our lives...and gave you to me...I carried you all the way to your speeder and drove here."

  I blankly stared at him, "Maul saved us....but why?" I questioned. Obi-Wan merely shook he head. So...he didn't know....Neither did I. Why would such a cruel Sith Lord who would try to murder us...save our lives. Could Maul truly have some good in him...even if he doesn't express it much?

  Obi-Wan then gave me a hug and said, "I never want you to have to go through this again...You mean so much to me....I know we've only known each other for a few years...but you are one of the only family members I have left....I don't want to see you stabbed in the gut like Qui-Gon did." I winced a bit in pain and said, "Don't you dare blame yourself for what happened. I know you don't want me to get hurt. But, you can't stop it from happening to people, Obi-Wan. I know losing someone is hard....but it's apart of life."

  Obi-Wan sobbed a bit and said, "I told the council...they will try to deal with him..." I looked at him in shock and some anger, but didn't say anything. I KNEW from the beginning that it was a bad idea to get him involved in this. "What are you going to do about him?" I asked. Obi-Wan sighed and said,"I am going after him myself, and hunting him down....He will not hurt another living soul, as long as I'm around." "But Obi-Wan....you are supposed to work with the Council...and me for that matter. Don't do this by yourself," I pleaded.

  Obi-Wan turned to me with sad eyes and said, "I'm sorry....but you can't help me. I will not risk you getting hurt again.." He then turned and left...leaving me to rest. I stared at him as he went in disbelief. I can't believe we cannot work as a team....that's what siblings are for...But then again....maybe he doesn't have to hunt Maul down.....I can find him myself.

   I let darkness take over me...as I went into a slumber filled with dreams of peace....I will find him....and ask him why he saved me...and Obi-Wan.
