Chapter 10.

Penny pt.2

Penny and I both walk to my room when all of a sudden she asks, “Well... how’s Ash then?” with a slightly smug look on her face,  yet I don’t know why. “H he’s fine? I guess....” I stutter slightly. Why am I so nervous? I ask myself in my head but my crappy little brain of mine is refusing to give me an answer. We sit on my bed with our legs crossed, and Penny gives me a funny look. “Why did you hastate?” she asks. She noticed. She notices everything. “Did you hurt him?!” she asks in an accusing voice, I would never hurt Ashley even though I haven’t known him long! “No! Ask him next time you see him!”
Penny grabs her phone and dials a number in to it. I look at her. “It’s okay. It wouldn’t be school yet.”  She’s right, it would be. “Hey, Ash, how are you?” “Speakerphone?” I mouth to her, and point at her phone. She obviously taps speakerphone because I can hear Ashley say, “Hi Penny, I’m okay... yesterday we got a new girl in our class, her name was Fillipa-” “Yes, yes Ashley. Turns out Fillipa is my best friend from one of her previous schools.....” Penny interrupts him. “Really?” he says. I also am surprised Ashley didn’t know about me also being friends with Penny. “Are you friends with her?” she asks him. “Kinda. But I’m not sure if she thinks so... she had to go home early yesterday because apparently she bumped her head.....” Ashley says. I nod because it is true, I did bump my head.
“I feel like I am on speakerphone......” Ashley mumbles. “No you’re not. It’s just that I have been having a few problems with my phone lately...” The liar. Why? I give her a, ‘what the hell?’ look and Penny shrugs. “Just in case.....” she mouths to me. Just in case of WHAT?! I give her a confused look. She just smiles at me. I think she gets the message and turns the speakerphone off, she huffs at me. Now Ashley is just a muffled voice, then suddenly her eyes go wide and gasps and tries to hold back a giggle. “Okay, Ashley. Don’t worry about that...” she hangs up the phone. “WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!” I burst. Penny shrugs. “I was just calling him to see if he was okay... that’s all...” she giggles a bit. Uuuuuggggghhhhh.
And for the rest of the day she is here we speak nothing of it for the one reason is that I know what she’s like with secrets and stuff like that. She won’t budge.  For most of the day we end up just talking about the annoying things/people at our schools. I don’t have much to talk about because I have only been there halve a day but I still tell her about Bryce and trying my best to avoid the subject on Ashley. “Ashley has told me about Bryce the retarded bogan a few times. He sounds like a right sleazy cu-” Penny says but I cut her off so she doesn’t end up saying an extremely bad word.
“Oh, Penny! I almost forgot to show you something!” I say as I remember my two new pet rats, who I am still trying to find names for them. I remember Lucy saying that they were both girls. I very carefully take the box off the top of me bedside table trying not to spill there water and food bowls. I sit the box in between Penny and me, and gently lift the lid to show her. “OMG so cute!!!!” what are their names??!” she asks. “I haven’t got names for them yet. Can you please help me?” I ask, hopping she has good taste in names. Penny’s face lights up and she says, “Sure!!” she almost squeaks like a rat herself.
After a while, we come up with two awesome rat names. Marshmallow and Billie. Omg adorable names. “Oh, Fillipa- why haven’t they got a cage yet?” Penny asks.  “Mum says that she will be buying one later today,” I answer. “Okay, but make sure they have a stylish one...” she giggles. “they, will so don’t worry, Penny.....”
