SHORT STORY OF THE MONTH-

"The Awesome Attic"

The weather outside was rainy. Water splashed against the long window in the dining room. I had sprawled myself across a chair, typing on my computer, composing a sad e-mail to my cousin.
I heard my sisters yelps coming from her room. I shut down my computer and followed the noise. The stream of music and screams took me into her closet, where the noise was overwhelming.
Now, our closet was bigger than other closets you may know. Our attic was small and dusty, but my sister had went up there and started to sweep. Now, the attic looked fairly new, since my sister had rid it of cobwebs and hung posters from every side.
I slowly opened the creaky closet doors, hearing the thudding of feet above me. I pulled a rope from the side of the closet, swinging limply next to her underwear drawer, and a ladder fell to my feet with a thud, barely avoiding hitting her shirt drawer. My sister now knew somebody was coming up, and thudded tot eh top of the ladder and peered down. Her blonde hair swung beside her, waist-length, and she sniffed the air before scrunching up her nose.
"Ew, Rose," she muttered. What is it with you and that perfume?"
I didn't answer. I just crawled up to the attic and peered in.
I fainted.
