Family madrigal
10 years later, as mirabel was singing about her family, Carmen snuck into the walls and hugged bruno tightly. Bruno shyly smiled and hugged back "hey how you doing carmen? H-havent seen you for a while" he said and carmen smiled. "Yea ik I've been trying to do research on my family... My real family... Apparently my mother made the miracle candle for your mom after she saw your papa pedros sacrifice to help his family." Carmen explained leaving bruno shocked."And apparently my last name is candella which means candle maker" she smiled as if enjoying her last name. Bruno slightly smiled seeing her happy "it's a pretty last name carmen" he replied which carmen smiled more. "No wonder i feel connected to the candle.... I think... When my mother died the candle magic transferred to me so I'm connected to it in a way" Bruno's jaw dropped at this information but he quickly shut it and put on a smile. "So basically you're in charge of the candle?" He asked.
"I wouldn't necessarily say that.... You know your mother is the candle holder... I'm more of... Just something the magic of the candle is based off i guess..." Carmen explained as best she could. Bruno nodded in response and sighed wanting to be with his family again but he didn't wanna deal with the pressure of his mother. Carmen hugged him tightly knowing his feelings and said her goodbye to her best friend for now and went to sneak out of the walls.
When carmen got to the entrance of casita, she thought she was safe so she transformed back to normal from a rat only to see dolores standing right there and carmen gulped. "You're the one in the walls with my tio aren't you?" She asked and carmen slightly nodded rubbing her head nervously. "Hm!" Dolores did her lil whistle and shrugged "btw I'm dolores" she introduced and carmen sighed before smiling "carmen! I take it your gift is super hearing?" She asked and dolores nodded.
"I see so umm what's with all the excitement?" Carmen asked and dolores smiled "my little brother, antonio is getting his gift today." Dolores said and smirked "btw i knee you were at camilos ceremony" carmen squeaked and hid her face in her hands causing dolores to just whistle, shrug and walk off. Carmen went to leave but she bumped into camilo and she sighed just wanting to get out of there.
Camilo looked at carmen "well hello there señorita~" he smirked and carmen shyly waved. "The name's carmen señor" she giggled and camilo chuckled "well Carmen I'm camilo!" He replied and carmen couldn't help but smirk "you're a chameleon!" Camilo was shocked at this but smirked "yea i am" he said while turning into her. Carmen rolled her eyes playfully and flicked camilos head before skipping off.
Camilo stood there slightly smiling and watched her skip away. Suddenly the weather turned sour and carmen quickly ran back to casita. "Couldn't stay away i see" camilo joked earning him another flick on the head. "Ow..." He smiled. Carmen sighed and decided to stay for a while and watched antonio get his gift making her smile. She watched camilo and his little brother "aww camilos such a good brother..." She mumbled to herself.
Soon enough, carmen was about to leave when she heard someone leave Antonio's room and she turned to see mirabel. "Mirabel?" She asked which shocked mirabel for a few seconds but it quickly turned into a smile. "Hey carmen..." She said and carmen could tell she was upset about not having a gift. Carmen went to comfort mirabel but a part of casitas roof fell and cut part of her face. "Ah!" She jumped back and mirabel picked up the piece only to get a cut on her hand.
Suddenly casita started cracking and both mirabel and carmen gasped as they watched the cracks almost reach the miracle candle, causing it to flicker. Carmen fell to the ground and gasped for air while mirabel quickly ran to tell her abuela about the cracks. When everyone came out the house was perfectly fine and abeula comforted everyone saying everything was fine including the drinks. Mirabel couldn't believe what she saw, everything fine but when she turned to carmen she gasped as her friend was laying on the ground.
The next day, Carmen woke up and was greeted by a woman about 50 amd tilted her head. "Here eat this" the woman said handing carmen a fruitcake. Carmen hesitantly ate the fruitcake and her cut on her face was gone and she felt better than she did last night. "Thank you" carmen said smiling and the woman nodded "I'm julieta mirabels mother" the woman said. "Carmen... What's the rest of the family like?" Carmen asked and julieta just smiled "see for yourself".
Carmen got up and walked out of julietas room and went towards where the madrigal family was eating. alma looked at her and had a small smile on her face. "Glad to see you're awake... Mirabel said you took quite the fall" she said and carmen nervously smiled. "Please introduce yourself" alma insisted "i-im carmen candella" she said still slightly nervous but it faded when she saw mirabel being put against the table.
"A pleasure to meet you carmen, i am alma" she turned to her family telling them to introduce themselves. Mirabel looked at carmen "you know me carmen" carmen giggled and nodded "yes i do mirabel". Felix grinned "I'm felix i married into the family". Felix said smiling at carmen. "I'm pepa the one felix married and i control the weather" said pepa. As everyone went around introducing themselves and saying their gift carmen felt like she belonged. She wanted to be a madrigal, she wanted to be happy.
