Chapter Don't Stop (Luke)

I decide to tell Lauren how I feel about her the next time I see her alone. It turns out to be about a week later. Already a week of not talking to my best friend.

I see her putting books into her locker. I tell Ashton that I'll talk to him later, and I walk over to her. "Lauren, can I have a minute? I gotta tell you something," I ask. "Sure, Luke!" she replies, looking up at me.
"Um, I heard that someone likes you," I blurt out. That's not what I was meant to say!
"Really?" Lauren exclaims, her face lighting up. She probably expects someone better than me. "I-It might be nothing," I say quickly. Lauren bites her lip. "Well, thanks for telling me anyway!" she smiles.

I walk back over to Ashton. "So, how did it go?" he asks eagerly. I shake my head. "I messed up," I sigh. "I told her that I heard someone likes her! I didn't say it was me!" "Oh," Ashton says. "Well, at least she knows someone likes her!"
An idea comes to me. "I don't think I'll be able to tell her straight out," I say slowly. "But I could give her hints and see if she guesses it's me!" "Great idea!" Ashton grins. "Let's hope it works!"
