Chapter 3

His rough, tanned skin rubbed against the smooth skin of the other's chest as he brought him to the surface of the water. The merman heaved the human onto the shore of the lake, taking little to no effort. Jake examined the boy, every inch of visible, tan skin, his dark hair, his legs. An array of fading scars littered his body, mostly on his shoulders and calves.
This boys legs truly intrigued Jake. The merman ran a hand over Hunter's knee. At that moment, Hunter jolted, water splurting from his mouth and nose. Coughs shook his frame. The sudden movement startled Jake, making him dive back under the surface.
Hunter's sepia eyes opened, seeing only a glittering, blue tail of scales fall back down to the bottom of the pool.
The brunette stood, his legs quaking underneath him. His body shivered and shook, somewhat in the cool temperature that the night was bringing and other in shock of the fact that he almost drowned.
Hunter shook the water from his dark hair and used his hands to wipe away the water on his rough, scarred skin. He pulled on his clothes, excess water making the cloth cling to his skin. He began to make his way home, making a mental note to be more careful the next time he came to this lake.
