Chapter 3.

She Heard

Rain pounded against the glass of the window, making a quiet, comforting noise. But the noise of the soothing rain was drowned out by the music that a couple were playing. Everything from hardcore screamo, to soft ballroom music was played. The couple danced along to the music, laughing and talking as the did so.
The couple consisted of a small, pale man, with hair as white as snow and a tall, thin woman, with pinkish silver hair. Their eyes held their smiles and their laughter carried sounds of their joy.
"I love you Sibby" The taller woman, Max, whispered, making the other's heart stop. "But you're hella short." she joked, standing back to full height. Sibuna's, the shorter male, crimson eyes were filled with annoyance. "Like, wow, you're super tiny." Max laughed again. Sibuna reached up, gripping the collar of Max's shirt and pulled her down. He stared directly into her eyes. "I'm. Not. Short." Sibuna growled out, pausing between each word for emphasis. He pulled Max down slightly further, letting their lips crash together.
Once they pull apart, Max whispered a gentle "I love you, Sibby." Sibuna was much more calm towards this, Max says those few words every moment she can.
A loud knock resonated from their front door. "Must be the pizza!" Sibuna started "I'll be back, gotta get the door" Sibuna said, pulling away from Max.
Max stood, stunned. Her heart raced. Those are his last words. Those are his last words and Max was too stunned to do anything. Her knees gave out, letting her fall to the ground. Hot, silent tears tumbled down her pale cheeks. She could hear the door open. She could hear Sibuna greet whoever was at the door. She could hear the sound of the trigger being pulled back. She heard the sound of the bullet leaving the chamber and entering Sibuna's skull. She could hear the loud 'THUMP' of Sibuna's body hitting the ground.
Max screamed for Sibuna. She cried, wanting this to be a joke. She wanted this to be a prank that Sibuna and his friend, who was always drunk, played on her.
But when she looked up, to see the stranger pointing a gun to her head, she knew that this was reality. And when she whispered those four words, she knew those were her last "I love you, Sibby"
