Problems with Mary Sues

Yep. You heard. The dreaded mary- or Gary- sues. However, its not as simple as it seems. Now, this isnt about why everyone hates them. Im going to take trats from the steryotypes and break them down.

Chapter 2.

Tragic past

Haha, im skipping traits for a reason. Trust me, itll make sence in time.

So, Mary sues have tragic pasts, right? Can they still be flawless? Unless that made them flawless...

This makes me laugh every time.

You see, if one was truly flawless, past would be perfect. Happy, boring... Annoying.. kinda "whats the point?" senario.

Why?

See, forget physical (appearence, strength.. others i may miss...), but mental health. You see, bad past- throw in some PTSD or something, and, depending on the backstory, it can be triggered in a fight.

Now- writers dont include this. Why? They.. well.. we know why. They dont want them to seem to weak. Yes, writers have this fear. Unless youre me and like to kill everyone off because why not.

Not only that, but every trauma leaves a hole in someone, even mary sues. May not be seen, but its there.

Speaking of flaws-

Hi here is one thing you MIGHT want to add in this story
and this would be: relationships with canon characters. Simple right?
Well you see, unless you were making some next gen story and needed some ocs for that story or series, the fandom tends to make thier own ocs that they use in universe, to be the sibling, or in a romantic relation ship with the canon See More▼

Here's another thing to add in this story:
Their appearances.
Most Mary-Sues tend to be described with flawless looks. Even when they pop out of bed they look perfect.
And wtf is up with the rainbow designs?

No clue, but its part of the steryotypical apperance of a mary sue.

And hence why there needs to be a chapter for it.

Also.. just reading that immortality bit...
Holy shit, does that mean the Hunters from Percy Jackson are Mary Sue's once they take the oath?!
No wait, they can die... But they're still immortal, CAN THEY EVEN GET SICK?!

They dont qualify as Mary Sues because they were:
-From Greek mythology technically
-It was given
-Dont posess all the traits.

For the tragic past, good job saying some.
I know for a fact that Creepypasta is KNOWN for tragic backstories - even though I'm not into that - but I also know for a fact that tragic backstories are actually okay for OC's in Creepypasta.
In other places, they're looked down upon, even if one canon character had a tragic backstory.
I'd like to know at what point See More▼

Usually its depending on, once again, the opinion of the people.
Generally, too tragic is the death of a family member, children, and/or friends. Like having an oc have thier parents die when they were a child, and children die as when theyre an adult. Still, it is pure opinion.
