Finding Fate :Undertale FanFic:
Chapter 2.

Ice

“U-um...” Did he just say, kill? Are the monsters here really that aggressive that they would kill me out of revenge for what had happened so long ago? Flowey, flinched a bit and leaned up a little as if listening for something.
“Now, here she comes.” he said irritably.

“Wait, who is 'she'?” I asked nervously.

He chuckled a bit, “Someone that is useless and too emotional for my taste.” But to me, his expression said more than that.

“Would it be a good idea that I kept, um, our conversation a secret?” I asked, it seemed like he was someone that had a lot of secrets and maybe this was another one.
He gave me a wicked smile, “That's a wonderful idea.” And with that he disappeared back into the ground.
Strange.
Then I remembered. She's coming; whoever 'she' is. Do I hide? Or do I confront her? Maybe I should go back to the pillar room and wait for a little while or-

“Oh, hello there. Did you just fall down here?” said a very soothing and concerned voice.
I turned around to see a tall goat-like woman in a long purple dress. Her deep red eyes were full of worry and a little bit of nervousness. My face grew hot from embarrassment for wanting hide from someone who looked so...nice.
“Um, yeah I just got here...” I said shyly.

She gave me a gentle smile, “I am Toriel, and do you mind me asking why you're here young one?”
This surprised me a bit, “Well, I was just hiking and...”
Her expression saddens at that, “Do you not know the risk of coming to this mountain and what it holds? It is not a place for humans to safely travel.” She reminded me of a motherly figure; wish my mom was like that.
“Yeah, I knew but I was pushed in and...” I stopped when I saw her shocked look on her face.
“S-someone...pushed you?” she asked. I simply nodded my head and she came closer and enveloped me in hug. “I'm so sorry for what has happened.” I awkwardly hugged her back.
“Uh, look I need to find a way out of here. I have a lot of things going on now up there, and I need to get back home.” I stated as we parted from the hug. Her face grew from sad to stern,
“I'm sorry but I cannot help you. Venturing out into the rest of the underground would be wishing for death. I do not wish that for you.” The pained look, told me that this has probably happened before. Maybe more than once.
“...but there is a way to get to the surface from here?” I questioned quietly. She remained silent for a moment before nodding. There was a moment of an awkward silence.
“You may go on ahead. You will need to pass through my home to get to the rest of the underground. Please just go down stairs and nowhere else.” she said.
I nodded, “Yes, ma'am.”

After that she gave me a small smile and walked towards the room I fell in. I took a deep breath and went through the second archway. I walked through many hallways and rooms, some filled with puzzles and others with trap doors. I even ran into several monsters along the way. They were mostly curious, saying that I was a lot older than some of the previous humans.
Now that I think about it, I do remember hearing about children disappearing around this area. It gave me an awful feeling. Did those kids die here? All these monsters seemed so nice, but I have yet to explore the rest of the mountain.
I even found a cute ghost you could make a top hat out of their tears. They felt insecure about themselves, but I managed to cheer them up. And I managed up enough money to buy a spiderdonut. I'm still a little reluctant to eat it. Surprisingly my backpack survived, and I placed the wrapped pastry inside.
Out of curiosity I pulled out my phone and to no surprise I had zero reception here. Well, calling for help was out of the question.
Finally, after going through spike walkways, pressing switches and confronting more monsters; I came to an opening. There was a large old tree, which seemed to be dying by the lack of leaves and then behind it was a small house. I took the time to admire the tree before moving on.
Once inside the home, I was greeted by a delicious smell. When was the last time I ate, this morning? My stomach growled in agreement. Toriel's word echoed in my mind. Dang, I didn't get the chance to introduce myself; how rude indeed.
I sighed and sat at the top of the stairs trying to gather myself. So much has happened within the past hour. My family and friends. My job. All those responsibilities that came with being an adult. At least, I didn't have to worry about those anymore if I was stuck here. But...I would be STUCK here. Toriel did say that there was a way out of here but how? Flowey said that there was no way out. Thinking about all of this was giving me a headache. I had no idea how much time passed before I was pulled out of my thoughts.
“You're still here, young one?” Toriel asked worriedly as she walked in.
I looked up at her, “I just needed some time to think I guess.”
“Oh, I didn't catch your name earlier.” she simply said, bringing up what I was thinking about before.
“Revery”. I replied with a smile; my real name was boring anyways.

“Well, Revery, would you like a bite to eat before you leave?” I nodded and followed her into the kitchen and helped her cut the pie that has been cooling. We then went into the living room and ate beside the fireplace that was crackling peacefully. The pie was amazing, just like it smelled. Toriel said it was a butterscotch-cinnamon pie.
“I would like to apologize for being so rude before.” Toriel stated after finishing her piece.
I waved my hand dismissively, “There's no reason to be sorry...I understand what you meant...” I offered to wash the dishes after we were both done but Toriel insisted that she would.
“Thank you for the pie, but I got to try to get home...” I said.
She gave me another hug and parted to say, “Good luck, young one. It is a straight shot from here, you will have to make it to the castle to get to the barrier that traps us all here and...” She paused for a moment, I waited patiently. “You would have to kill the King to pass through the barrier.”
“W-what?” I asked in barely a whisper.
“That's the only way a human can cross over, is to take a monster’s life and use their soul.” she said solemnly.
My hazel eyes looked down in guilt, it felt selfish to want to leave so badly and to do so, was to take another life. “Are you sure that there is no other way?”
She shook her head, “That, young one, I do not know. But I wish you safe travels.”
After that we both bid our farewells and I descended the stairs and into the basement. At the bottom, it leads out into a long corridor. Silently, I walked. The thought of having to kill another living being to leave this place. Would it be worth it? Could I do it if I had to? No, I thought. There was no way I could...could I? There must be a better alternative.
The hallway turned, and it came to a room with a large purple door with the same symbol. I pushed on the door, it didn't budge. I got a better footing and pushed harder and the large door creaked open. A wild gust of icy wind cut through the now open door. I immediately hid behind it to shield myself from the cold. My white coat blowing around me, I grabbed onto it and pulled it close to my body.
I peered outside again, only to be greeted by a frozen forest. There was a path that cut right through it. I shivered even from where I was standing. I buttoned my coat together and stepped out of the doorway. As soon as my feet hit the snow the giant door slammed short causing me to flinch in surprise.
No going back now.
The snow crunched underneath my black converse, and the wind still found a way to freeze me down to the core. I have never liked the cold really, but I did love the snow. As I continued down the path, I found a sturdy branch. I simply picked it up, figuring that I may need it later; with death being a threat it is better to have something. It was just long enough to use as a walking stick; like they kind people hike with.
Shivering a little I walked on with the stick in step beside me. Then, I came up to a bridge. A very strange looking bridge. It seemed to have a tall gate constructed across it but the bars were too far apart from each other, so one could easily pass through.
Crunch
I tensed.
Crunch crunch
Someone was walking behind you and the footsteps stopped dead behind me. I gripped the stick tighter, ready to swing if needed.
Then in a deep voice, “Don't you know how to get a new pal?”
As soon as he, said the second word I spun around, the stick ready at hand. My sudden action caused the skeleton to flinch a bit and I nearly jumped out of my skin at the sight of him. A skeleton?! It wasn't that he looked creepy, well it was just...weird. I took a step back to get a better look at him, but that was my mistake as my heel slipped on the ice-covered bridge; busting my tail on the frozen ground.
The skeleton snickered to himself, “heh sorry about that, being a skeleton just slipped my mind.” he offered me a hand. I smile a bit at the comment and took it. Instantly I felt a shock go throw my arm and I jerked it back.
His grin grew wider, waving the joy buzzer that was strapped to his hand. “i gotta say we gave each other a shock back there. i'm sans. sans the skeleton and it is ice to meet you.”
