chapter 8

One day, a young girl about 16 years old and a slightly older boy stopped to take notice of a man lying in an alleyway. They appeared to be brother and sister.
At their first glance, the man was assumed to be a simple homeless person. The boy shrugged without care, thinking nothing of the man's state. The young girl, however, looked close enough to take in the man's rips and stains in clothes, filth on his skin. She even noticed his stench that wafted through the air. She wrinkled her nose and turned to the boy with a concerned expression.
"Should we do something?" she whispered quietly, afraid to disturb the man which at that moment appeared to be sleeping.
The boy let out a noise somewhere between a sigh and groan, placing his hand on shoulder. "Dear God, not again. We can't do anything about his situation. Lets just leave the poor man alone."
The young girl looked back at the poor man. She pouted her lips and shook her head no.
"Lets invite him to dinner. There is no harm in just giving him food. Right?"
The boy sighed. "Okay, whatever." He then made his way into the alley and approached the man. He reached out and lightly shook the man awake.
"Hey, I'm sorry to disturb your sleep, but my sister wants to invite you to dinner with us. I know this sounds freaky but we mean you no harm, all we want to do is give you food. So what do you say?"
The boy promptly stuck out his hand to the older one.
The older man glanced at the young man with faint suspicion before turning his head to see the girl. He could see that the girl was inching forward enthusiastically, waiting for his reply.
The boy coughed to get the man's attention.
"So...what do you say? Do you want dinner? We have a great cook." the boy insisted.
"We will be having a 3 course meal too!" the girl encouraged, hoping to convince the older man to join them.
The older man could tell that the boy was uncomfortable with this situation. He looked at the boy's stretched out hand again and this time noticed a watch on it. It was a Rolex.  He then began to take mental notes of all the expensive items and clothing both the boy and girl were wearing. Polo shirt, Mike Jordan shoes, Rolex, Gucci bag, diamond necklaces, etc.
"What, are you too rich or something? Want to feed a poor person to boost your egos?" He croaked sarcastically.
"No...no not at all. We were just being generous." the girl squeaked out and moved between the two men before her brother could throw a punch at the old man.
"What a douche bag. Lets take our big egos and get out of here. I could care less if the man starves to death." the brother remarked irritably, making his way out of the alleyway.
The girl slowly turns on her heel to face the older man, who began to stand up.
"We are sorry to bother you. Have a good night."
She then turned towards her brother and began to catch up to him. She suddenly let out a surprised squeak when she was suddenly pulled back. She felt a icy object pressed against the left side of her throat and hot short breaths on her right.
"You aren't going anywhere." The older man said, a frightening yet confident tone to his voice.
It wasn't long before her brother quickly spun around to find his sister being held by the man with a knife to her throat. The girl slightly turned her head and warm liquid trickle down her throat.
"Oh no you don't . Anymore movement and that pretty little head of yours won't be on much longer."
The girl stiffened up in the man's grasp. "That's right just like that. Now boy, if you want her back then you will give me all of your belongings."
Worry flashed through the boy's eyes as he observed the sight before him. "Just stay calm sis. Everything will be alright." the brother reassured. He slowly took out his wallet and took off his watch. The girl stood still looking at her brothers careful movements. He gently nodded at her when he was finished.
"Here's all my stuff dude. Now let her go."
He quickly threw his wallet and Rolex watch at the man, taking him by surprise. The man quickly dropped the knife to catch the objects.
"NOW!" the brother yelled as he threw himself on top of the guy and pushed his sister out of the way.
"Run! Get away from here and find help! Hurry!" her brother shouted at her.
The girl stood at the entrance of the alley way, watching the older man slowly overpower her brother. She abruptly noticed the knife laying a few feet away from her. She slowly made her way to the knife. Her hands started to shake as she reached for the knife.
Red. That was the first thing she saw when she finally grasped the knife. She looked closer to find crimson liquid all over it. She let out a gasp and almost dropped the knife. She shook her head and tightened her grip on the knife, turning to face the two guys.
Her brother was barely holding his end. He was thrown to the ground and started to get kicked.
The man then got on top of him and started to throw punches non-stop. The older man's back was facing her.
The girl steadily walked toward the man with her hands and knife slowly rising over her head. The closer she got, the better view of her brother she had. She couldn't tell where his face was anymore. There was too much blood covering his face to distinguish his features. Suddenly a massive hatred toward the older man overcame her, inducing her to plunge the knife into the older man's back. She repeatedly stabbed him until she found that he was no longer alive.
She returned to her senses, dropped the knife, and jumped away from the now deceased man. She raised her hands in front of her eyes. She could barely make out her fingerprints which were covered in dark red blood and a repulsive odor. She was suddenly startled when she felt something grab her foot. Looking in that direction, she realized it was her brother's hand. She knelt down beside him and took his hand in hers.
"You will be fine! Help is on the way!. I called before I came to help! Please don't die on me please!" She said between her sobs.
She continued to grab her brother's hand which gradually seemed to get colder by the second.
"Please don't die PLEASE!" she screamed. Finally, a few sirens could be heard in the distance. When the paramedics arrived, they were greeted by the gruesome scene.
They approached the siblings and slowly pried the girl's hands from her brothers cold fingers and moved her into the ambulance.
"Take note;" the paramedic told his partner, "Time of death: 11:26 pm on Oct 12. Name of victim: Oscar Walker."

Great story! I recently had the pleasure of working with StellarWork https://stellarwork.ca/ - the waterproofing company in Toronto, and they did an excellent job of waterproofing my basement.
