chapter 6

I got up and stretched, slightly scratching my head. I looked outside to see the sun 3/4 through the sky. It should be around 3 or 4 pm by now. That means I went to sleep for 3 hours.
What a great nap... I thought as I yawned.
I vaguely sniffed the air and caught the scent of food. Hmm, that smells delicious. I wonder who's cooking? Then the realization hit me, waking me up completely. Wait a minute! I have to cook today because everybody is getting home late. Then who's cooking? Whoever it is could have caught sight of H! I quickly yanked the door of my bedroom and ran down the stairs. As I got closer to the kitchen I could hear pots and pans clonk and the scent of the food was getting stronger. I nervously made my way into the kitchen, expecting to see a relative cooking. What caught me by surprise was that H was standing in a white button up shirt 2 sizes to big for him. He looked so good in that big shirt. The shirt perfectly hung off his body. I could feel my face blush again. What was wrong with me today? As I walked up closer, I could see him holding a knife. I crept closer and saw in his right hand holding a tomato and his left hand the knife. In a quick swift motion he threw the tomato in the air and sliced with the knife. The tomato fell down as little perfect squares. I was amazed and speechless. Not before long, I decided to speak up, "Hey, that was so cool!"
I was suddenly pushed against the fridge and felt the cold metallic knife pressed against my throat.
I looked up in a frightened manner into H eyes. His eyes held no hint of emotion. I managed to speak up again with a trembling voice. "H-h? What's...wrong? You're hurting me....."
It then seemed that my last sentences snapped h back into reality. The knife hit the ground, causing a clinging noise to echo in our ears. With a shaking hand I reached for my throat. I felt a warm wetness. I slowly retracted my hand from my neck and looked at it. There was a small stain of blood left on my fingers.
As I stared at the blood on my fingers, I heard a faint whisper. "What am I doing?" H spoke up and quickly apologized, "I'm so sorry..." Though he didn't stop there and continued to keep apologizing. I slowly reached out and hugged him and whispered into his ear. "Its okay. I'm fine. It was a small scratch."
H's breathing slowly calmed down, and we stood there for a few more seconds as we looked into each other's eyes. My glanced at the stove behind him. "Aren't you worried that the food is going to burn?"
After a few muttered curses under H's breath, he sighed and turned away from me to tend to the almost burned food.
There was a few awkward silences in between the loud noises of clicking pots and the sound of food cooking.
I stood there for a few more seconds, gathering my thoughts together. I could feel my warm blood slowly slide down my neck. I wasn't too worried about the wound because honestly, it was just a small cut. Though unfortunately, I was a bleeder, meaning I bled a lot whenever I got cuts. I slowly made my way to the bathroom leaving the noises from the kitchen behind me.
When I looked in the mirror, I was shocked to see my neck smeared with dry blood. I hastily grabbed a small towel and dampened it with water. I started to scrub my neck to get the dry blood off. I was so involved with my neck that I didn't see H looking at the door with sadness in his eyes.
"You're going to re-open the cut if you scrub that hard."
I semi-jumped in a startled motion. H's frowned only deepened.
"Oh H I didn't see you there!" I said as I turned towards him.
H slowly walked towards me and hold out his hand. "Give it to me." He whispered.
"Huh? Give you what?" I asked with a confused expression.
H just sighed with frustration, his gaze still not meeting my eyes. "The towel. Give it to me before you make the cut worse. It's the least I could do after hurting you."
"Thank you." I gave him a big sympathetic yet forgiving smile.
With those two words, H was surprised and looked up. "Why...why do you thank me even though you were the one that got hurt? I hurt you!" H shook his head in confusion and looked down at his hands. "I'm a monster." He whispered to no one in particular.
"No...you're not!" Was all I could say. I could feel my tears streaming down my cheeks. I felt like a crybaby. I had never cried so much in one day. I felt embarrassed, useless, weak.
I shook away my thoughts and reached for H's hands. I grabbed them roughly forcing him to look up. "Don't you dare call yourself that!" I yelled at him.
He carefully took his hands from my and started to delicately clean my throat. "I'm sorry...I don't want to make you cry ever again. It pains me to see your beautiful face stained with tears." H then slowly dried away my tears with his hand caressing my cheek in the process.
"I only met you for a day, but you make me feel strange when I'm around you. I feel a lingering happiness. Like I've known you all my life." I said softly and reached for his face. We inched closer to each other to the point where I could feel his breath on my skin. His hand grabbed my chin and pulled our faces closer.
"I feel the same way." Was all he could manage to say before our lips lightly touched. We slowly parted. I could feel my whole face red. I couldn't believe I just had my first kiss! It was filled with so much love and passion, but it wasn't aggressive. It was just plain out sweet. It was perfect. H caught my reaction and smirked.
"You're extremely cute when you blush. You act like this is your first kiss."
My blush just deepened more. H didn't miss my reaction. "Wait...was that your first kiss?" H said with another smirk.
I looked down ashamed. "N-no!" I stuttered out. "I kissed plenty of guys before!" I managed to say.
H's smirk only grew wider.
"Wait, no! That makes me sound slutty. Dang it. Okay, so I haven't kissed anyone. What's so wrong about that!?" I yelled with embarrassment.
I suddenly felt H's arms around me. "Perfect. I was your first." H whispered.
I felt like I couldn't blush anymore. I lightly pushed him away.
"You idiot. Stop messing around. Lets just go and finish making dinner."
I looked up to see H smiling at me.
"I already finished dinner. All we have to do now is set the table for your family."
My eyes started to sparkle like diamonds.
"Really you made food? Oh my cupcakes you're perfect." I yelled without thinking.
H then let out a heavenly laugh.
"But first, let's put a band-aid on your cut." H said with a less joyful voice.
I quickly turned around and opened the bathroom drawers to look for a band-aid. I found a big one and hastily tried to put it on. H snatched it from my grasp and with care he placed it on my cut. I looked up at him after he finished and smiled at him again.
"Thanks." I said and quickly pecked him on the cheek and ran out of the bathroom downstairs.
As I made my way into the kitchen, all I could think about was the kiss we shared just moments ago.
What's going to happen next? I don't even know his real name.
I suddenly ran into someone at the kitchen entrance and looked up.
"Hey Mitsuki, You should be a little more careful."
I was shocked. Standing in front of me was my sister. I could faintly hear H going down the stairs.
"Is someone up stairs Mitsuki?" Gina questioned suspiciously as she made her way to the stairway/mini hallway.
"Hey Mitsuki, I couldn't find the hand soap in the bathroom so I used..." H stopped.
I was freaking out to see my sister and my hobo/stranger/guest stare at each other. "Gina, I haven't introduced you guys yet. This is my boyfriend H." I quickly yelled out.
...OMG I can't believe I just said that. My sister looked shocked while H just had a smirk.
H then moved towards me and put his hand around my waist and pulled me closer.
"It's nice to finally meet you Regina. I heard so many great things about you." He addressed my sister politely.
"I hope you have a plan." Was all he whispered to me.
What did I get myself into!?

Great story! I recently had the pleasure of working with StellarWork https://stellarwork.ca/ - the waterproofing company in Toronto, and they did an excellent job of waterproofing my basement.
